Im pretty sure there are additional rules about teams in the playoffs and beyond and that they must lose players.

I will see what I can find.

This looks like a very lame year for UFA's.

You aren't kidding. Just about anyone even remotely decent i on the defensive side of the ball.
No CBA means there are 212 Players who will now be RFAs, as opposed to UFAs.
Most people are not paying attention to this, but it means that even if someone wanted to make a 'splash', there isn't much chance of it happening.
Most of the genuinely 'good' players, will either be tagged, or tendered at a pretty expensive level.

I'm not sure they have to 'lose' players. I've got a feeling that they aren't allowed to sign many - at least in respect of FAs.

Its probably you cant sign any without losing any?

Heres the deal:

"There could still be a few choice players left to test free agency and a number of solid players on bad teams will be looking to go to contending teams. A team such as the Patriots has always done a great job in free agency, getting very good veterans on reasonable deals because a player wants a chance at a Super Bowl ring. Well, there will be a "Final 8" rule in 2010.

The rule will restrict the final eight teams in the playoffs from signing free agents. The final four teams shall not be permitted to negotiate and sign any unrestricted free agent to a player contract except for players who acquired their status by being cut or were on the final four team when their contract expired. Playoff teams five thru eight get a break to sign one player with a salary of $4,925,000 or more and any number of players with a first-year salary of no more than $3,275,000 and an annual increase of no more than 30 percent in the following years.
There is a mechanism to permit the final eight teams to sign an unrestricted free agent for each one of their own unrestricted free agents who sign with another club as long as they don't spend more than what their own lost player received from his new club."

For free agent info scout.com does good work.. Plus they rank em.

http://profootball.scout.com/a.z?s=127&p=9&c=12&nid=83&lnid=83&yr=2010

they also do draft ranking for those who are unfamiliar with the site.

There are some players worth looking at, but I wouldn't be surprised to see many of the top UFA's get transitioned tagged this year, since teams can use 2 tags

I'm in favour of seeing what the new coaching staff can do with the current roster.

To coin a phrase, the grass isn't always greener on the other side, and I don't see any likely free agent signings who would actually be a substantial step up from those young guys on the roster who are simply in need of some proper coaching and clear game time play calling.

If we have no CBA then the talent pool will be diminished. There will be some big names available but more often than not, they never play up to their excessive contracts.

I would rather than Bills no overspend on average players to find the team unable to bid for players due to salary cap considerations when a new CBA is signed.

my bad.. i feel terrible about making a joke about a guy who beat women, pistol whipped teens, and was arrested more times than travis henry.

he was a stellar guy who clearly turned his life around.. its normal to fight with your fiance in the bed of a truck..

respect.. much love.

Tank Johnson could not handle NT duties which is why Dallas went with Ratliff. Tank is a 4-3 DT only.

Kennedy might be able to but I don't like his height compared to his power.

just remember how many transistion tags we will see this year.

I also expect to see a lot more player trade activities this offseason, because of the limited FA market, and the fact that teams are going to want to make moves in the offseason for a plethera of reasons.

Are there any teams that will switch from a 3-4 to a 4-3 in 2010. That's where will find our best dance partner
