Here is what I have learned: Two names for DC

It was out of professional courtesy for our source that we did not disclose the information we have learned on the Bills’ defensive coordinator search.
We have been told it is alright to release said information as he has received no new leads and doesn’t mind the information getting out.
In a phone conversation with this source, I was told that the Buffalo Bills organization holds ex-Baltimore Ravens LB coach in “high regard” for the position. What that means, we don’t know. But it is evident he is on Buffalo’s list.
The other information we have learned, since confirmed by Patrick Moran of Buffalo Sports Daily, is that new head coach Chan Gailey “covets” the 3-4 and intends on making the switch.
Then late last night we got another name. Clancy Pendergast, former Chiefs defensive coordinator. This from a separate source who said, “Clancy to Buffalo seems like the reality of the situation.”
“Pendergast is now a finalist for the job. I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed in the next 48 hours.”
Fangio and Pendergast’s names were also confirmed as being potential candidates by a well respected and well-connected member of billszone.com who will remain anonymous until he sees fit.

So it looks to be between Pendergast and Fangio.

I prefer Fangio...so that means they'll hire Pendergast.

Hope you don't mind me linking your site Pat, but you pretty much confirmed my info on the 3-4 so I figured I would provide your article as verification.

wow, we're poaching the defensive talent of KC. Changes truly are happening at a dizzying pace.

Yeah, yuck Fangio! I mean, he's only coached Ray Lewis, Bart Scott, and Terrell Suggs, during the past 3 years. Ravens aren't known for great LB play at all!

He was still around some of the best talent in the NFL. He knows what average play is to great play. I would like to have a D-Coordinator who has been on a top 10 D, and has seen the LB position be played at it's highest level, than some guy who has coached a bunch of bums in KC.

I really hope it's Fangino but at least Pendergast will run some 4-3 as well. Both are much better options than Bates.

Trust me, you want Fangio of these two guys. Fangio had top ten defenses in Carolina and Houston, while Pendergast was a very mediocre DC for the Cardinals and had a crappy stint with the Chiefs. I sure it's Fangio...!

Where has Greg Blache ended up? I think he's pretty darn good.

Again, I think the Ravens have been well established for going on ten years on defense, with guys like Marvin Lewis, Mike Nolan, and Rex Ryan being the people that have gotten most of the credit (and deservedly so). Fangio did not develop those guys. That being said, at least he's part of a winning program. Pendergast was the clear weak link at Arizona, and took a job at a horrendous team (K.C.) that even the Bills beat last year.

My point is... there aren't, and haven't been, a whole lot of people lining up for either one of these guys as DC. Familiar theme?

I'm just not "wowed" by either of these names. You guys are?
