The Buffalo Bills announced the hirings today of five new assistant coaches, along with two staying on board from Dick Jauron’s staff.

Offensive coordinator/running backs coach: Curtis Modkins

Tight ends coach: Bob Bicknell

Offensive line coach: Joe D'Alessandris

Offensive quality control coach: Kevin Patullo

Defensive assistant: Giff Smith

make coffee and copies and makes sure the players get their playbooks. that and generally not get paid much (if at all). Think of it as roughly analogous to a (maybe) paid internship.

at least that's what mine does on the staff. of course i use a graduate student (i got my start in coaching the same way), but it's roughly the same in the nfl.
