    Honor system question....

Without looking it up...Who were the assistant coaches that Marv Levy brought in when he was hired?

" Were any of them ever on American Idol ? "

I remember a couple Def asst.'s back in the mid 80's that got their first NFL jobs on bad teams of Kay Stevenson. DB coach Pete Carroll and LB's coach Monte Kiffin.

    Ever hear of them ?

Does it matter who his assitant coaches were? Bill Polian gave him a roster loaded with HOFers and probowlers.

        Re: Honor system question....

In all honesty, I'd have to think real hard to come up with any kind of list.

I know Bobby Ross was his first choice for OC, but he bolted and Marv had to 'settle' for Ted Marchibroda.

Can't remember if he brought in Corey for DC right away.
        Ted Tollner as WR's?
Bresnehan at o-line, but again can't remember if he was an initial hire. (Tollner and Bresnehan were the principles in the infamous 'head through the drywall' fight, I believe, and that led to Tollner leaving.)
        Elijah Pitts RB's ??

Does it matter who the current assistant coaches are if Nix can duplicate what he was a part of in San Diego then?

Bobby Ross was a defensive coordinator/coach.

Yeah, I would say it matters because you still need good coaches to make the most of your talent. But if Nix can duplicate what the Chargers have done then I would say we at least have a great shot of being a playoff team again.

Or, Levy helped make them in to HOFers. Why assume it was the other way around?

Pretty sure it was Ross that bolted shortly after being hired.
