This has all changed in last 15 minutes.. He is released from KC and it was easy to connect the dots and assume he's our next D.C., but I was just told minutes ago that Clancy has not even been contacted by the Bills, let alone offered a job here.

**UPDATE** I’m told by a source the Buffalo Bills have not contacted Clancy Pendergast as of this evening at all during the entire coaching search process.

And confirmed with the announcement by the Chiefs that he's not returning. I"m working on getting better confirmation for this, but that's where the signs are pointing now.

And BTW, he runs both a 3-4 and a 4-3, so that will remain to be seen.

Confirmed by who? Why can't you be like everyone else and say Adam Schefter....

Because for starters Adam Schefter didnt "scoop" anything. >The Kansas City Cheifs ANNOUNCED it already

2 years ago while with the Cardinals, Pendergast and his defense traveled to Foxboro to play the Patriots. The result? Belly scored 47 point on this dudes defense.

47.

Well you may like this and I just updated something.

I just found out through a SOLID source that Clancy Pendergast has never been contacted by the Bills once (working on another update now)

This is a shock to me I figured he was a lock.

And it lends further credence to what I was getting at this week; Gailey's already selected his DC and nobody knows who the hell he is.

Report: Pendergast, Ward Out as Chiefs Coaches

The Kansas City Chiefs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/KAN) will soon announce the departure (http://chiefsblog.kansascity.com/?q=node/1202) of assistant coach Clancy Pendergast, a team source told Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star.
http://cdn1.sbnation.com/images/blog/star-divide.v5547.jpg
Pendergast was the defensive coordinator last season coming from the Arizona Cardinals (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/ARI) with Todd Haley.
Romeo Crennel was hired to coach the defense earlier this month lending plenty of speculation that Pendergast was on his way out. Haley indicated at the press conference introducing Crennel that the decision to stay or go would be up to Pendergast.

Sorry Fellas.. This surprised me bigtime, I thought he was our guy (and IM NOT COMPLAINING-- GOOD)

Upon learning of Clancy Pendergast’s departure from the Kansas City Chiefs earlier, it was easy to connect the dots and assume he’d be on his way to join Chan Gailey as the Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator.
Well, not so fast.

I just learned minutes ago that as of this evening the organization has not contacted Pendergast about joining their staff. While that doesn’t automatically disqualify him from eventually being the choice, it makes it highly unlikely to happen.

I’ve been told since Monday that the Bills already “have something in the works for a defensive coordinator”. If that’s holds true, then it’s definitely not Pendergast.

This would contradict many rumors and speculation that Pendergast would be joining Gailey and put in charge of the defense.

Who exactly is their choice? Your guess at this time is as good as mine. I’ve been told it’s going to be a guy who will run a 3-4 defense. “Well, I got this much, Patrick: They’re going to a 3-4.” he said Monday.

He's the same source that told me about Catavolos, which has already been right, and about us switching to a 3-4 defense and that we had something in the works already on Monday, which remains to be seen.

But I believe him 100000% about Clancy not being contacted by us.

It would be quite Stealthy, lol.

I do not think I need to express to you my reaction if we needed to have Stealth meetings with Clancy Pendergast.

Bill Cowher, yes. Clancy, not so much ;)

Pat is probably right about Clancy.

My source never said the Bills and Pendergast were talking per say. Just that he believed that he would inevitably be the guy and that he was a finalist.

“Clancy to Buffalo seems like the reality of the situation.”

“Pendergast is now a finalist for the job. I wouldn’t be surprised if he signed in the next 48 hours.”

That could have been his very STRONG opinion. I intend on calling him in the morning for confirmation. I will post on my blog if I get a hold of him.

:idunno:

Its a wait and see thing.

To be honest, I have never "used" this gentleman as a source before and I trust the guy who told me that Buffalo holds Fangio in "high regard" more than the Pendergast guy. Seeing as that man has ties to a news station in Buffalo, some major sports teams and most recently, the Ravens.

I don't know what's going to happen. I hope my Fangio source was right, I hope my Pendergast source was wrong.

I REALLY like the potential of Fangio to Buffalo.

from all the opinions i have heard and the results of his defense he is a horrible coordinator, so it would make sense that they hired him. it would go w/ the trend

They had stealth meetings with both Jim Harbaugh and Chan Gailey. I wouldn't be surprised if they had a stealth meeting with Clancy Pendergast.

I don't doubt we haven't contacted him as perhaps we wanted to keep things quiet for a little bit and then after a few days can contact him so we don't get slapped with a collusion suit from the Chiefs. Of course it doesn't mean that our new D coaches didn't know the writing on the wall and share this information with Gailey.

Pendergast just got released from his contract. If the Bills are playing by the rules they couldn't have contacted Pendergast up until now anyways. So this Pendergast hasn't been contacted stuff is common sense because he was under contract to another team. If we have contacted him it would have been tampering unless we asked for permission which has not been leaked by anybody. I think this report is like a no Duh and he could easily be the next DC now that he has been released.

I think based on his hiring record that Chan would prefer to hire someone who he has worked on a roster with previously. That narrows the field
