View Full Version : T.O’s return won’t be forced by Buffalo

The chances of Terrell Owens returning to the Buffalo Bills in 2010 are slim. The aging receiver had one of the worst years of his career in terms of production and though he behaved nobly during his one-year tenure, it’s not exactly government science that he’s expected to sign elsewhere come March.

By league rule there’s always the option of placing the franchise or transition tag on him, making it a near-lock he’d be back in the Bills’ fold. But we’re going to go on a limb and predict that’s not happening.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger published Friday (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2010/01/official_franchisetransition_t.html) the price tags that will accompany franchise and transition players. Owens would cost Buffalo $9.521 million if franchised or $8.651 million to transition.

*IF* he WANTED to come back... id take him back... but in no way should we persuade him to come back

Why would we want him back? He did nothing.

I don't think that's going out on any limb at all.

Not many people expect the Bills to resign him.

Did he do nothing? Or did our QB's just suck?

Owens did better i think then we could have expected with our poor QB play. I love how people are so quick to say we have a horrid offensive line, then say we have one of the worst starting QBs in the entire league and peewee football play calling..... BUT, then also laugh at Owens for struggling. LOL

Too funny.

Our QBs did nothing. There's a big difference.

If he did nothing what do you consider the much younger, payed more, Lee Evans did?

WR wasn't the problem. For the past 10 years QUARTERBACK has been the problem. It really is that simple.

TO was a bit of a victim through the play of the OL, the QB's and the play calling, but i figure he'd catch less flak if he didn't have the dropsies in the early middle part of the season.

it also didn't help that he totally gave up in the tennessee game. i've never seen an NFL player just totally give up in a game like that. you hear about dogging it, but that was obvious even to a casual fan that he simply didn't care.

I rarely saw him fight for underthrows.. I'd rather have a kid out there who wants the damn ball at all costs

Did he do nothing? Or did our QB's just suck?

Both.

Our QB's didn't help him much, but he had a ton of drops as well, most notably the sure TD along the sidelines that hit him in the hands.

Fair enough, but we still don't have a good QB and most likely won't when the season starts. If we do have one, it will be a rookie who will still need to learn.

So, why should a team with this many holes pay $6.5 million a year to a 36 year old WR?

It's such a simple concept but it is rarely comprehended around here.
It doesn't matter who the wr's are if your qb can't get the ball to them or your qb is running for his life the whole game !!!!!!!!

Owens will probably end up in New England.

if he ends up in new england, as long as we put a seasoned DB on him, he'll get shut down.

his big games this year were lackluster and were against rookie DB's. TO is controllable for DC. He isn't a game changer. The drops and the lack of balls his way make it really easy to make him a non factor.

In New Eng. he will end up getting the 2nd or 3rd corner. I'd take my chances with that.

Considering if Welker comes back healthy, a trio of Moss, Owens, and Welker with Brady at the controls will be a ***** to stop.

to won't make it any worse to stop than it already is. plus if they don't fortify their line, they might be the new bills.

.
they have coaches and a qb that can get him the ball . we'd have to pick our poison.

thats because we barely had decent qb'ing

Those three or four games where we actually targeted him, he excelled.

He also was over/underthrown on about 4-5 SURE touchdowns this year.

I would LOVE to have him back.

He probably could be signed at 4 million with incentives and he'd be worth it with a legitimate coaching staff.

Your WR is only as good as his QB.

lets say theres ten 'blame' points why the bills passing game sucked so badly last year

i would assign those ten points as follows:

7 OLine
3 QBs
0 TO

the Oline play was just atrocious, as bad as ive ever seen in blo

TO wasnt great but he sure wasnt the problem. hes not what he used to be but hes still quite a good player. his game is the big strike, the back breaking play. when its virtually impossible for your qb to complete a five step drop and scan the field its not a big play wrs fault that the balls didnt/couldnt come his way

i really dont care one way or another if hes back. the oline play should be better, hard for it not to be, but if the pass blocking is that brutal again you might as well line up blocking sleds at wideout for all the value youre gonna get out of them

if TO did nothing, then Lee Evans is the worst WR in the league.
