Examples have been recently provided as to the success of Peyton, Drew and Ben behind left tackles who do not have name recognition in the eyes of many fans.

Peyton was drafted in 1998, Drew in 2001 and Ben in 2004.

At the time of their rookie season, their left tackes were not Charlie Johnson, Jermon Buthrod or Max Starks (who incidently is a ProBowl and Super Bowl winner)

In their first season in the league:

Peyton Manning was protected by Tarik Glenn (No19overall) who had started his rookie season and protected him in 154 games until his retirement. He'd enjoyed a season of non stop starting before Peyton appeared

Drew was protected in his rookie season by Vaughn Parker (No63 overall) who at that point had played in 102 games with 92 starts

Ben was protected by Marvel Smith (No38 overall) who had played in 48 games with 47 starts

That is a total of 170 games experience with 155 starts which is an average of 52 starts experience each for the LT before their franchise QB turns up.

Our rookie QB will be starting with protection provided by Demetrius Bell (No219 overall) who has a total of 8 starts

When a QB gains experience in the league of course they can start behind a less experienced LT. By the time Johnson started protecting Manning, Peyton had almost 180 games experience, Ben had about 60games experience and Drew had about 100games experience

Its a bit different from sticking a rookie QB behind a LT with hardly any experience who is considered extremely raw.

Who said we were getting a new rookie QB? I understand where you are going though and I agree that we need to have some resemblance of an O-line in place first.
