I know this could be shot down immediately and I think Mitchell has previously mentioned it, but statistically it might a decent guy to have in the QB mix and start for a season until we see if we can draft Locker/Mallett/Luck(?) in next years draft.
1) He costs nothing. Irrespective of the CBA he is a free agent
2) He has a positive TD-INT career record of 21-13
3) He certainly helped with the development of Ryan when he entered the league and might help develop another former Cardinal, Brohm
Here is the report out of college
Four-year starter with average size. Very productive. Pocket passer with decent setup quickness. Holds the ball high and has a quick overhand release. Stands in tough under pressure. Patient. Confident -- will try to thread the needle with his passes -- sometimes forces balls into coverage. Has good arm strength and accuracy. Drills the sideline throws. Shows touch. Throws an accurate long ball when given time. Not elusive but can throw on the move -- is able to alter his delivery and get heat on the ball. Has had some back problems.
He is no more than a one year stopgap but at least we can fix the rest of the team
