    Troy Smith vs. Brian Brohm

How can some of you want to actually give up players or picks to acquire Troy Smith and not be willing to give Brian Brohm a shot?

    Brohm : 10,775 yards 70tds

    Smith: 5700 yards 54tds

And the fact remains. Ohio State never produces quality NFL players. Eddie George is pretty much the best, and he had the lowest YPC of any RB to ever get as many carries as he did.

Brohm is clearly a more polished passer. He did more and rose his team to equally high levels without as much talent around him. Ohio state continued to steamroll teams before and after Smith was there. Louisville, since losing Brohm...Squat.

If you think Troy Smith is a better option than Brian Brohm, please sell me some of what you've been smoking. Not only is Brohm a better passer, he's taller, and smarter. And has accomplished equal NFL success.

It's friggin amazing that you all would rather trade picks for Smith than give Brohm a legit shot. Absolutely amazing.

I fully expect Brohm to get a shot

I fully expect the Bills to bring in another QB that can compete and beat out Brohm and Edwards

I think people are trying too much to pigeonhole the type of QB Chan Gailey wants. Yes, he had success with Kordell Stewart, a slashing type of QB. But how do we know that's what he prefers to work with? Wasn't he the OC then? How much control did he have over the team personnel?

I think Gailey understands the concept of a franchise QB, and that the passing game is what works best nowadays.

I think the problem is that with no clear-cut favorite at QB, you're going to have a ton of people come up with a wide variety of options. And since it is so difficult to forecast how a QB will do in the league, they want to have as many options as possible.

I think the asking price for Smith will be too high, and unjustifiably so. I agree that Brohm should be seen as a near equal to Smith at this point, and that we don't have to trade picks to get him gives him the edge.

It may actually make sense to go with the current stable of QBs, see what Gailey can work with, and make big changes next year. Fitz will never be more than a backup, but he is a decent backup. Edwards and Brohm need to be thrown through the Gailey process to see if they can find success.

Smith isn't going to improve us vastly, so I don't see the point in going after him either.

I think you'll either be bringing in another young qb or groom one thats already on the team instead of bringing in Vick.

College stats don't mean jack in the NFL. This is why QBs like Timmy Chang, Colt Brennan, and Kliff Klingsbury don't dominate the NFL.

let's be fair here. Not many 2nd round picks are cut after one year. And if they are not many would not be signed by any team in the NFL forcing the player to sign as a practice squad player. Brohm may not be talented enough to be an NFL starting QB, let's admit right now that despite his success in college he may not have huge upside. He has decent arm strength, not great, his release is average and he has no foot speed. I'd like to see him get his shot but we didn't grab Elway off of GB's practice squad.

Smith? How many times have you seen him play? That guy is only about one stat: W's. I don't know if he's an NFL starter either to be quite honest, his passing is average at best. But he's a born leader, he makes plays with his legs and reminds me of Flutie. So hell yeah for a 6th round pick I'd bring him in all day. If Brohm is the better player let him show it in camp. Coaches track every snap players make. But to say we can't afford to spend a 2nd day pick on a QB to compete with a longshot like Brohm is ridiculous. Hell we may spend a top 10 pick on a QB.

Exactly! If the Bills decide to give Edwards another shot, (perhaps more likely with a new coaching regime and new GM) they will still bring in a QB either via draft, trade or free agency, but Brohm will get his chance. If the Bills decide Edwards has had it in Buffalo, they will probably bring in both a draftee and a freeagent/trade acquisition.

We shouldn't be drafting a QB early in this draft. We should give Brohm an opportunity to show what he can do next year. Besides, the QB class next year us better than this one. Why spend a pick on a guy this year when we already have a top QB coming out of college who hasn't had his shot yet?

It's all about the mental aspect of the game, Troy Smith is mentally fit for the NFL and has proven that....Brian Brohm has been shaky, they both have an equal amount of potential

Honestly I am hoping for Bradford. But if we can't get him, I want LeFevour to come in and compete with Brohm. Edwards or Fitz will both make suitable third stringers. Cut the one who has a worse camp.

We are on the exact same page B Dubs. I feel like if we are taking a qb with the 9th pick , it BETTER be Bradford. And we don't get him, I wouldnt mind grabbing up LeFevour instead for a competition. In fact, I think I would rather have LeF than Claussen.
