View Full Version : Del Rio not high on Garrard

I thought this was interesting. I think Garrard looked very good, in my limited exposure to him this year.

He is a guy that is not afraid to throw the football, seems to have good arm strength, and is mobile.

What do you think?

there are some rumors about the Bills making a play of course...

Is he a worthy stop gap QB for us ?

Sure, I'd take Garrard (and several other QBs) over the guys on the current roster, though McNabb is a nicest viable daydream.

Like most mid-level starters, he'd be fine with an improvement in our o-line and a continued commitment to the running game.

Stop gap, or an actual QB? I think he might be just about perfect for Chan.

I think he is extremely talented, and seems to really be coming into his own.

I, admittedly, am far from the authority on the guy, so was wondering what people who have seen him play, more than myself, think about his ability.

What in the heck does "stop gap QB" mean???

The people in Jacksonville don't think Gerrard has the dedication and committment to maximize his talents. Not sure that sounds like a guy I would want to pay alot of money to.

Stop gap means....good enough until we get some one better, I guess.

If there really is such a critter, it has to be a Pennington type guy. Garrard should only be brought in if Chan/Nix think he has what it takes to be a franchise QB.

As far as what the people of Jacksonville think about DG...does anybody that acutally watches football have an opinion on him? Just kidding...kind of.

a temporary Vet QB to play while we groom a rookie or whomever and improve the lines

This might actually be a better option than McNabb. While McNabb is no doubt better, he's injury prone, and will probably be more expensive to acquire.

I'll take him over Vick.

That's saying a lot from the people of Jacksonville, who don't have the dedication or commitment to support their own team.

He would fit Gailey's system really well and I don't see him ever playing to the level where we need to spend top 10 money on him. I would definitely make the call to look into what it would take to get him.

I'd be interested in David Garrard. He's not great, but he would come cheaper than McNabb and might do better under Gailey. Plus...didn't he go to the Pro Bowl this year?

I'd take the worlds fatest man as our QB over Vick

I'd take him until someone better comes along.

He's not bad at all.

He'd be a good QB to get. He get's the job done.

I don't watch a lot of Jacksonville, but vs. the Bills and when they were in the playoffs w/Garrard vs. the Steelers a few years ago, I thought the guy played with a ton of heart. He wouldn't be a bad option. I'd definitely take him over Vick.

I'd love to see this. Would be one of the fastest ways back to the playoffs.

According to ESPN, it is the Jacksonville coaching staff and front office that is saying that chief.

If Garrard leaves, it means that they really are serious about doing everything possible to attract more fans to the games and will draft Tim Tebow in the 1st round...

I live in JAX and if the Bills get Garrad, I would puke! He holds the ball to long and turns it over in crunch time! Just say NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Del Rio will be in the unemployment line at the end of the year if that's the case. He will be the live sacrifice for Jax football!!

I became a Garrard fan when he went into Pittsburgh a couple years ago and bounced the Steelers from the playoffs, then went into New England the next week and damn near beat what was at the time an undefeated Patriots team.

The guy is a solid QB who's a great fit in a smash-mouth offense. The Bills could do a lot worse.

I'd take him over Vick as well. But right now McNabb looks really good. He won't take much and is the better option. We can ship Lynch there with a fourth or fifth and we get a top QB for a few years. It frees up drafting a QB like LeFevour and raising him up right.

Fair enough, but that doesn't mean he's not worth taking a chance on.

I didn't even read the thread. I just wanted to say i'm not high on Gerrard either. As a matter of fact and i think he is an overpaid bum.

So does Jay Cutler. So what? Doesn't affect them.
