Yep the bottom stats are Drew Brees' 1st 3 years in the league...

Not trying to say Edwards deserves to be the QB but in this case we can argue that San Diego had better FO, a better Coaching staff and a better OL during Brees 1st 3 years comapred to what Edwards has had in his 1st 3 years.

In 2004 San Diego drafted Rivers. That same year Brees started to come into his own... In 2006 he was traded to New Orleans.

Brees is now the MVP of a Superbowl winner, and San Diego still hasn't been able to win the big one..

Just a little fire for a debate. I admit I've lost hope in Edwards too... but the question begs can he get it together with better coaching and a stronger OL ?

Do we keep him on the roster and let him compete or do we just cut bait...

He stays on the roster and competes for a job.

Why in the world would the new coaching staff cut him without putting Trent through their own off-season program and subsequent training camp? Then they can evaluate what they have on their own terms.

                    Same goes for Brohm.

I consider Edwards and Brohm to be untapped potential with the new regime. With non-Jauron inspired coaching, Edwards could very easily turn out to be what we all hoped last off-season.
Still searching for that offensive rhythm.

Ive always made this comparison to Edwards.

San Diego and their fans were fed up with Brees, and were ecstatic when they drafted Eli and made the swap with NY for Rivers. Then out of nowhere, something clicked for Brees. There was a point where the Chargers were actually thinking about trading Rivers and keeping Brees, but nobody was going to come forward and trade a number 1 for an unproven QB, which Rivers was at the time.

Edwards is a smart QB. He's showed flashes of being a good QB in this leauge. I don't think he's had the help of a good offensive coordinator in this leauge at all. Actually, all OC's he's worked with belong coaching in the UFL. The no huddle was an epic disaster, and the guy has absolutley no trust in his O-Line.

We definitely have to test Trent this year, and see what happens in the preseason. My biggest concern on Trent is his ability to stay healthy. Many doctors suggest retirement after a 3rd concussion. He's already had two, and the last one looked like a relatively weak hit.

There's one difference... Brees was good in college.

Some of the percentages listed in the total column at the bottom for each athlete don't add up.
