BINGHAMTON -- Now that they've both escaped the throes of bankruptcy, the Ottawa Senators and Buffalo Sabres have made a date to play the first NHL preseason game in Binghamton in five years.
As part of its five-year affiliation agreement with the AHL's Binghamton Senators, Ottawa will host Buffalo at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. It is the first of four annual preseason games Ottawa has agreed to play here in the next four years and the first since the Sabres lost 3-1 to the Florida Panthers on Oct. 6, 1998.
