All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Bills | Ellis likely will play LB
Thu, 11 Feb 2010 08:58:26 -0800
Chris Brown, of BuffaloBills.com, reports Buffalo Bills DE Chris Ellis likely will be used as an outside linebacker in the team's 3-4 defensive alignment.
when he was coming out of college the thought was he'd make a good OLB in the 34. He's got about the same size as Schobel... so he'd probably be pretty good out there.

Been saying this for a while now. It makes perfect sense. Not saying he will succeed but he was being scouted as a OLB for a 3-4 coming out.
It's the only place he would fit in our new defense.
I'd like to see if he and Maybin can make the transition to OLB and become good players. It's hard to believe that we don't have a need at OLB, though.

I predicted a couple weeks ago that both Maybin & Ellis would probably move to OLB in a 3-4. Looks like the Bills are going in that direction.
Good. Both can rush the passer off the edge but were too small for DE. Now they can be actual assets. They'll only have coverage responsiblities in a short area anyhow.
Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit
so we are looking at a linebacker core of Maybin, Posz, Mitchell, and Ellis?
I'd love to see Schobel for a year and give Ellis time to learn the position... ease him in slowly. I don't see him being ready to start at OLB on day one. Definitely worth trying.
It would be nice to see Ellis contribute as a 3-4 OLB and if he can play it, it's one less hole to fill.
But if both Ellis and Maybin end up being successful as 3-4 OLB's after sucking as 4-3 DE's, it just shows you how ****ing stupid this FO is for drafting them when we were running the 4-3.
