If done, could change things with the draft big time. It would allow drafting a QB in Round 1. It could also allow us to attack the 3-4 spots at LB and NT in rounds 1 through 3. 2 LB, 1 NT.

I want to draft Balaga but if we get McNeil, i'll be happy. I'd still like to grab a tackle later in draft. Not sure if McNeil is restricted but I read SD has many players to resign so you never know. McNeil is a proven player too. I think Balaga will be a good player too.

So do you guys think we have a shot at McNeill or any FA LT or should we draft one cuz we won't sign any top LT?

He's restricted.

He was a 2nd rounder, if he gets a 2nd round tender or original round compensation tender (which is still a 2nd rounder but costs them less), maybe hes worth a 2nd rounder.

I would give up a 2nd rounder in a second. He is better than anyone we would draft in round two regardless. And we don't have to worry about a learning curve.

Are you guys talking about Marcus Mcneil?...just think we could have drafted him, but we moved up to draft john mccargo....ughhh

McNeil is as much of a pipe dream as Cowher, except costlier and more difficult to pull off.

doesn't he have some injury issues? he is very talented and a great LT.

If they only put a 2nd round RFA tender on him, I would give him a high salary that is hard for the Chargers to match and happily give up our 2nd rounder for him.

I would prefer the 2nd for MCnabb, but if thats not an option, all for it

another player that was scouted and was eventually drafted by Nix and co. I'm excited about this years draft.

It's also possible he could be resigned by his present team and Buffalo never even gets the chance to make him an offer. We'll see how things look after free agency starts.

I would think SD would put the highest tender on McNeil, which would cost a 1st and 3rd.

I dont think he'll even be in play.

From what I've read in various places, the Chargers want to retain him. Apparently, the other year, they were close to giving him an extension, but he got injured, so it fell through. As he is now fit again, my understanding is that they do want to keep him, so he will almost certainly get the 'high' tender, and they will enter into negotiations from there. He almost certainly will not be going anywhere else fast.

He's worth a 2nd.
