To try and keep the SZ somewhat organized today, let's try and post all trades that happen today in this thread.

This is from last night but I'm deleting my original thread to keep it organized.
----------------------

The Florida Panthers have traded forward Dominic Moore (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=dominic+moore) to the Montreal Canadiens for a second-round pick in the 2011 draft.

The trade call to confirm the deal is currently being placed with the NHL.

Sadly, it's true.

Yet I'm going to sit here at work and refresh the net all day hoping to see something good.

I was on the fence about Ray Whitney but I think I talked myself into him after last night's game. Last night's game was good timing if Darcy actually wanted to talk a trade.

How come Dominic Moore keeps fetching 2nd rounders? He sucks!

I was just about to comment on that. A deadline trade for Dominic Moore.... we've seen how this episode ends.

For some reason, he's one of those guys that's seen as having a lot of "potential," but if he hasn't reached it at this point in his career, he isn't going to.

I sent Darcy a fax three weeks ago, he hasn't gotten back to me.

Darcy is sleeping in until 3pm EST time...there is nothing for him to do in the office anyways.

He should at least be in his office to respectfully decline any trade offers he may receive from other GMs.

I have at least two specific players I'd like to see Buffalo get. I know I shouldn't stress since there is an actual trade deadline in a little over 2 weeks, but I see this becoming a very frustrating day if nothing happens before 3.

On GR this morning, they were talking about the Sharks and how they want to get rid of Ryane Clowe. Looks like someone the Sabres could use.

Of course Jeremy White said that it has only been this year that Gaustad has played well and that he hasn't been consistent during his other years and he thought the Sabres gave him too much to stay here. I think he is on crack.

Anyone else hear about Cheechoo being put on waivers? I guess it was on NHL Live on NHL Network. Didn't hear it for myself though.

Also on waivers:

Lundmark (Cgy)
Cheechoo (Ott)

Ottawa's going to make more moves today.

Cheechoo makes 3mil a year and has 5 goals? Ouch.

To Ottawa's credit, at least they are able to cut the cord with someone who is underperforming.

Darcy is an idiot who never learns...I can barely stand listening to the guy talk anymore.

This thread will just piss us off even more. You know damn well that Darcy is going to sit in his office and let the time pass by. If he makes any trades, it wouldn't happen until right before the trade deadline. And even if they do make a trade, it will be another pathetic role player. :ill:

The one thing about that which isn't terrible is they have one game, Olympic break, one game, then trade deadline. So they aren't "pressed" to do it today, but it would be nice for them to be proactive for once.

Of course, they can just sit back and think they are good enough while New Jersey and Ottawa make deals to better their team for the stretch run.

You know what? Forget making a trade to get better.

Let's just shake things up a bit. Move any ONE of the "safe" players- Roy, Pominville, Vanek, Hecht, Lydman, Montador, Rivet- just to show this team that there is some accountability.

It's been awfully quiet across the NHL so far. I'm a little surprised by this, unless there will be a handful of deals announced right at 3. Maybe more teams are waiting until the read deadline than I originally thought.

Cullen would have looked good in a Sabres uni. The Sens add another Sabres killer to their stable.

How can the Sabres possibly get past the first round when the Top 4 will be the Caps, Sens, Pens, and Devils - (not nec in that order). I just don't see the Sabres beating any of those teams more then twice with their current roster.

The Chicago Blackhawks have dealt defenceman Cam Barker (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=cam+barker) to the Minnesota Wild for defenceman Kim Johnsson (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=kim+johnsson) and 2009 first round pick, defenceman Nick Leddy (http://tsn.ca/nhl/teams/players/?name=nick+leddy).

----------------------------------------------------

From what I can tell, that ends it. What a boring day. The roster freeze was a bunch of hype but in reality it was nothing as most GM's will most likely use the 2 week layoff to negotiate deals before the real deadline.

I can't totally fault the Sabres as it seems almost nobody made a move, but still, we now have roughly 2 1/2 weeks to sit here and stew and wonder if they will do something at the real deadline.

I know there is a roster and trade freeze, but can GM's talk to each other about possible trade ideas?

RockStar36
02-12-2010, 05:37 PM
Yep.

Teams can discuss trades to their hearts content, but no trades can be finalized/announced until 11:59PM February 28th.
