The Buffalo Sabres today instead of practicing took a walk,

It wasn't a punishment, it was in rememberance of the victims of the people that died when Flight 3407 crashed into a house in Clarence Center, NY most of the Sabres players live in Clarence including head coach Lindy Ruff.

The 10-mile Memorial Walk began on Long Street in Clarence Center and then made its way down Main Street before turning onto Genesee Street and then Transit Road.

The trip ended where Flight 3407 was supposed to land, the Buffalo Niagara International Airport, around 2:30 this afternoon.

This was an incredibly respectable thing to do. It really brings things into perspective. It's really easy to be upset about a 6 game losing streak, but in the grand scheme of things, at least we're still playing. All of those poor souls on that flight lost that opportunity and it's very important not to forget them. I grew up in Clarence Center, my house was about a tenth of a mile from the crash site, and I know how the community was affected by this tragedy. Props to Lindy and Darcy for engaging the team in this walk.
