View Full Version : I met Pat Kaleta at the Auto Show

I felt like sharing a few photos from the Buffalo Auto Show where he did a signing on Friday. I actually got an alternate Kaleta jersey but want to wear it so I went to the Sabres Store and bought a slug jersey on sale for him to sign so I can get that framed.

It was one item per person so the line moved fairly quickly. When I asked for the photo I put up my fist like in the style of old boxing promo photos since we all know his playing attitude. When I did that he gave a laugh and he said he liked my enthusiasm so I said Thanks alot, come back soon and shook his hand as he said thanks nice to meet you. Nice guy :oldskool:

Excuse my chubbiness but I love this photo. My girlfriend took it right as he was laughing so that's instant gold.

his little brother plays hockey for SUNY Cortland and seems like quite the little instigator himself. must be something in the name hahaha

Cortlands main rival is the Ithaca College Bombers (we have the 'Cortaca Jug' football game every Fall).. Cortland is a the cheap crap state school... and we're the $40k/yr private a-class school sitting adjacent to Cornell

My wife and my best friend were both Bombers...

I heard some people I know tell me that after Derek Roy, he is the biggest douche on the team.

Someone who has no involvement with the team's locker room and players and thus would have no idea, perhaps?

People don't know the kid, they just know that he goes out and runs people but then will refuse to fight - so they don't respect him and eventually begin to imagine that he is a douche. The question is, do people who actually really know him think he is a douche?

I know some people that went to high school with him. I've heard what they've had to say about him, but I've never met him thus am not going to judge him based on hearsay.

Roy is a little arrogant, but he's not a bad guy.

Well many times the guy reacts depending on the attitude of the fan meeting them.

If I was an athlete and I had someone come up to me and act in a disrespectful way such as interrupting dinner, or time with family/wife/kid then I don't blame them. They have a right to privacy when they have down time.

People also have their off days when they don't wanna see/hear/talk to anyone.

:beers: I'm the same way, but I've had people tell me to my face! haha we actually, I'm only usually an ahole at hockey games.... I love college hockey!

Ive played with both kaleta brothers at St Francis highschool on the prep team. I didnt care for either of them. I was glad when Pat left for the OHL. Highschool hockey wise Pat didnt put up the points, he hit and faught guys. ( on a side note: Pat tried his litte hit me 5 seconds after i moved the puck, he never ever hit me down) chris kaleta was this ****y kid who thought he was his brother. He tried hitting the same way ....he got rattled way to often. Kinda like a Derek Roy, where when the games 5 - 0 or 6 - 1 ...he starts playing his hardest.

both are nothing great in my mind....
