Bills release seven players

The Bills announced the release of TE Derek Fine, DE Jermaine McGhee, LB Ashlee Palmer, DT Marcus Smith, S John Wendling, WR Justin Jenkins and C Marvin Philip.

I am not saying that any of these guys are star players, but not bringing them into amp soudns a bit odd, especially Palmer and Fine.

And Jenkins is the one position player I would keep for ST ability alone.

The new front office and Chan have been watching film on the entire team. These guys didn't fit their new schemes or didn't show enough talent to contribute on more than just special teams.

I like it. Cleaning out the Jauron filth is the way to go.

I will miss the attitude and team spirit some of those players brought to the Bills, but they never really showed much on the field beyond special teams to warrant a roster spot.

Plus, with the switch to the 3-4 we will be bringing in a lot of defensive depth.

Suprised that Marcus Smith, Justin Jenkins, and Derek Fine were cut.

Smith looked like a solid build for a 3-4 DE, Jenkins was an ace ST guy and Fine was by far our best blocking TE.

Cutting Fine was the biggest surprise to me. I like that they're trimming the fat and sending messages. But Fine? I don't think he's that bad as a 3rd string guy, don't see why they needed to get rid of him.

Teams still have to abide by the cap rules until the 'year' ends on March 1st (see Joey Porter)....maybe they are clearing space to sign somebody? (Insert cash-to-cap joke here)

They are not that difficult to find.

finally a coaching staff that realizes that keeping players who can't play a position other then special teams will not take a roster spot. Did Wendling or Jenkins ever actually get on the field outside of special teams.
