Who's a few guys who are realistic FA's for you?

Heres a few that I thought of:

NT-Tank Johnson
DE- Adewale Ogunleye
OLB- Keith Bulluck
DE-Dwan Edwards
OT- Cornell Green
WR- Nate Burleson
RB- Larry Johnson
OLB- Joey Porter
OT- Levi Jones
S- Will Allen
S- Sean Jones
LB- Antonio Pierce
LB- Larry Foote
LB- Jeremiah Trotter
C- Kevin Mawae
C- Casey Rabach
OT- Tra Thomas
TE- Alge Crumpler
WR- David Tyree

I'd target the following:

QB Chad Pennington
WR Kevin Walter
WR Bobby Wade
TE Brandon Manumaleuna
TE Ben Hartsock
RB Willie Parker
T Artis Hicks
T Tony Pashos
T Barry Sims
NT Bryan Robinson
NT/DE Jimmy Kennedy
DE Dwan Edwards
DE Nick Eason
DE Travis Kirschke
DE Jarvis Green
ILB Larry Foote
ILB Matt Wilhelm
ILB Ryan Fowler
OLB Chike Okeafor
OLB Tully Banta-Cain

I'd try to sign 6-10 free agents relatively cheaply with promises of increased playing time, like the Patriots did in 2001. We need a LOT of depth and this could be the place to do it. Walter may get a much bigger contract than anticipated because of how thin the WR class is.

Out of all those guys, I get these. Then go into draft grabbing BPA!

NT-Tank Johnson
DE- Adewale Ogunleye
OLB- Joey Porter
OT- Levi Jones
OT- Tra Thomas
OLB Tully Banta-Cain

Anyone could disagree with a few of those but I like your line of thinking. It's realistic.

Good post.

the majority of the names mentioned could come in and start immediately. that's how bad this team is talent-wise.

Am I the only one who will be shocked if we sign any? I think we'll find out how much sway the good ol boys have with ralphie during the free agency period.

We gave Dockery 49 Mil. It's about spending on the right players.

These guys are all mercenaries and will chase the almighty :$: Make the good ones a decent offer and they will come.

I like Nat Burleson as a credible option.

Will we be able to compete though? It could be the wild west this season.

Ogun doesn't fit our new defense at all. What's he going to play, LB?

I think we end up signing more free agents than people expect.

There are a lot of holes on this team and a switch to the 3-4 requires depth we don't have. I can see us signing a bunch of middle of the road guys.

You can't take 7-9 rookies and throw them in to the starting line up.

Wow! What a pathetic year for FA's. I'd rather have the Bills go after a couple RFAs instead.

Bulluck a 3-4 OLB?

Doubtful.

At 6' 4" 260? We may go after guys that run closer to 300 pounds. But he couldn't be a situational pass rusher for us?

Here's the age and axperience of the 6 I chose.

NT-Tank Johnson - 29 in December - 6 years
DE- Adewale Ogunleye - 33 in August - 9 years
OLB- Joey Porter - 33 in March - 11 years
OT- Levi Jones - 31 in August - 8 years
OT- Tra Thomas - 36 in November - 12 years
OLB Tully Banta-Cain - 30 in August - 7 years

I don't think we'll be able to obtain some of the younger talent avaialable. We need to fill holes with these reasonably priced vets while our younger players and rookies mature. Yes, just like for every other free agent the Bills land, we'll have to overpay. But overpaying for these 'nearing the end of their careers' guys will still be reasonably inexpensive... I'd say on average $2-2.5M.

We also need to walk away from drafting for need... It's been a deadly recipe for too long now. For the most part, by the time these guys are able to significantly contribute at that particular position of need, 2 other needs creep up. Unless you have a solid team to begin with, drafting for need will always keep you 2 years behind the game.

these are all terrible options.

the bills should not sign aging veterans who have started to decline or are injury prone. Kevin Mawae? Really? Tank Johnson at NT? The Bills have players of this caliber already, why waste the money?

The Bills have players of this caliber already, why waste the money? You really think so? We got T's better than Thomas and Jones? What NT do we really have let alone better than Johnson? Other than Poz and Mitchell, how many LB's we got that are better than those listed?

We have to look at our needs realistically and understand we're not gonna fill them with 9 rookies and undrafted FA's.

I would be happy with Dwan Edwards
