Re: Does Brodeur get benched?
No weay.I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Re: Does Brodeur get benched?
Brodeur (career) > Luongo (career) [OBVIOUSLY]
Brodeur (2010) < Luongo (2010)
It's about who's the best right now, not who is the best ever - Canada would be foolish to play Brodeur over Luongo again. Luongo had an 8-0 shutout in his first game, while Brodeur barely snuck away with a victory against Switzerland. (Granted, Switzerland is better than Norway).
Despite how good Brodeur's career has been, in the past year or two he has been known to give up terrible, terrible goals. Game 7 against Carolina from last Spring comes to mind. Or think back to his series against Tampa in '06-'07. Maybe he's just getting old - who knows?
So why on Earth would you play Brodeur against the U.S. last night? After last night, I've got to assume that Babc0ck is thinking Luongo is his man going forward, barring a poor performance by Roberto.Last edited by DMBcrew36; 02-22-2010, 08:56 AM.

Re: Does Brodeur get benched?
Listen, Brodeur is arguably the best goalie of all-time. He's won numerous Stanley cups, and a gold medal. Nobody is taking that away from him. However, he's not the same as he was before his serious injury last season, and he played mediocre last night. Mediocre is not going to win a gold medal. As good as Canada is, or thinks they are, they still need an all-world performance from here on out, in net. I don't know if Brodeur has that in him. Bab**** really doesn't have a choice but to go with Luongo, but if he does, there's no turning back.
