if cary harris can play the nickel and dime and fs then what is the point to having donte whitner as a back up?

Why would Whitner be a backup?
And if he were what would Cary Harris have to do with it?

Wouldn't Wilson or Scott start over Harris?

Who says Carry Harris is suddenly doing any of that?

First of all Byrd is the FS. Second Carry Harris is no SS.

Whitner is the best SS on the team currently with George Wilson a close second.

wait whitner was moved to fs, george wilson beat him out at ss

so as of right now it would be byrd and wilson starting and scott and whitner as backups. so why cant harris just replace whitner as back up fs?

Scott is FA and will not be re-signed. Guaranteed.

Whitner sucks. Any one of our safeties can do what he's done. Or hasn't done the last couple years.

Because Cary Harris is capable at nickel or dime.

Don't forget Ellis Lankster, Reggie Corner, and Drayton Florence also leave use STACKED at CB.

Whitner would be a backup (just like last season) because he's been outplayed.

Wilson would be starting anyways, so Scott is your #2 SS(he's shown he's more than capable, blankets TEs and makes plays at the line) and Whitner is just eating up payroll.

I think those numbers are eye opening. Not many people really understand Wilson's worth.

He was an all around good player for us, his body hasn't taken the beating a lot of guys his age has, so he's a young 28. He needs to be given an extension, and gives an answer at SS for at least two years before looking to need to draft a replacement.
