Pretty much expected:

Yep. No way they were letting him go. Wilfork will be pissed, but there's nothing he can do about it.

The way FA is shaping up, it would seem that the NFLPA would want to get another CBA in place ASAP.

The Pats wont move Wilfork until he has nothing left in the tank.

As expected.

I expect any decent player to be tagged this year, rather than receive long term deals prior to an expected lockout.

FA will be slim pickings.

He can sit out. And if I'm not mistaken, he's threatened to do that.

And forfeit the money? Players may do that to the Bills, but they don't do it to the Patriots.

Time will tell. If he is as unhappy as Peters was he could sit out at least until preseason is over & not be ready to play when he comes back like Peters.

And they'll get a 1st rounder for him from Oakland.

I heard on the radio today that they tagged him with the intention of signing him long term. And with 2011 being a possible lock out year there is no way he sits out and forfeits a guaranteed $10+ million.

Actually, since Wilfork is worth a first, they'll get two or three first round picks from Oakland, most likely haha.

I'm not saying he'd sit out the entire season. Just up until before the season starts, a la Jason Peters.

Very few good, young players will hit UFA, seeing as how it takes 6 accrued seasons to become an UFA and with teams having 2 tags to use. And those that do will either be so high-priced (Peppers) that they'll probably at-best get 1-year deals.
