Cowboys face a tight squeeze

James Whalen has never played for a team that wasn't planning to get the tight end more involved this season. Nor has the Cowboys tight end ever played for a team that actually did it.

"Yeah, right," Whalen said with a chuckle. "I've been hearing that since college."

Whalen heard it again on coach Bill Parcells' arrival in January. Only it sounded a little different coming from a coach who has worked with tight ends such as Mark Bavaro and Ben Coates. It sounded more like an edict than lip service...
