Oklahoma State wide receiver Dez Bryant has chosen not to work out at the NFL scouting combine.

Here's why"

The consensus top-ranked wideout said that he injured his hamstring last week, so he'll forego auditioning for NFL teams until the Cowboys' campus Pro Day workout on March 10.

Bryant was suspended last season for lying to NCAA investigators about his relationship with former NFL player Deion Sanders.

Top prospects traditionally skip the combine, they nothing to gain so why workout in a unfamiliar place?

Isn't that the point? What it's about is the agents telling them not to workout because if they get hurt the agent won't have any leverage when it comes time to sign a contract and the agent wants all the money he can get. Seriously if this is what it comes down to why even have the combine?

Unfamiliar place? Everyone is in the same place, nobody has an advantage.

Well what does he gain by working out with a strained hamstring?

The point has always been to get official heights and weights and to give lesser known prospects a chance to show something but as Ing has already pointed out, with most of these guys scouts already know what they have.
