I doubt Bill Belichick will be too impressed with this declaration.

Nevertheless, NFL Network analyst Charley Casserly made a bold statement Friday about this year's draft class.

The former Washington Redskins and Houston Texans executive asserted the players taken in this year's first round will be the greatest collection of talent since the most celebrated class turned pro nearly three decades ago.

i'd say 2004 needs some discussion as well.

though i think Casserly is smoking something about this draft

Beat me to it.

It may have very good value from the late 1st to the middle rounds but up top, it's lacking in true blue chip talent.

I think some ratings salesmanship is all this is.

BTW - In case some are wondering what we picked in 1983, we blew the first pick with TE Tony Hunter but selected Kelly and Talley with the next 2 selections.

The first 2 picks of Round 1 were John Elway and Eric Dickerson, the last 2 were Dan Marino and 5 foot 8 Darrell Green of Texas A&M-Kingsville. I read many post draft articles that Skins GM Bobby Bethard had blown the pick because the "experts" never heard of him. Sound familiar ?

I think this draft is good but not 1983 good.
