    Miller Post Olympics

Anyone concered he might suffer from some mental fatigue? What a great Olympics by him, but that OT goal loss gotta hurt.

In the end, there are only three liberal archetypes: The fools, the beneficiaries and the crooks.
"If you build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day, but if you set a man on fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life"
    Optyimus Ignorus Realityious!

"Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.
    - John F. Kennedy, January 20, 1961

To live in the presence of great truths and eternal laws,
to be led by permanent ideals -
that is what keeps a man patient
    when the world ignores him,
and calm and unspoiled when the world praises him. -- Honore De Balzac

He'll be fine. I think the Olympics were a good mental change of pace.

Well, yeah. Anyone sane would and should be concerned - it's a long enough season as it is, and hockey is one of the most punishing physical games there is.

Bob Matthews, WHAM 1180's sports guru, spoke about this very issue before the start of the Olympics, and voiced his concerns about Miller's well-being. If a pro sportscaster as undeniably knowledgeable and wise as Bob Matthews is concerned about the effect the Olympics could have on Miller's game play, then ALL Sabres fans should be concerned. I was concerned already, but then Matthew's commentary cemented it for me. I already take a very dim view of the "Professional" Olympics in the first place.

And now Miller also has to return to the Sabres with a possibly demoralizing loss from the Olympics added to his mental baggage. A lot of any sports competition is indeed mental - if in doubt just ask Nate Kaeding.

The whole Olympics thing is a needless, and possibly damaging, distraction from the NHL Season. It's like a 2 week long Pro-Bowl, except that it's smack dab in the middle of the regular season.

This lowly cart.... it hits harder and has a higher yards
per play average than the Bills' offense!

Ruff seemed to talk to Miller for a while when shaking hands on the ice after the game. I am sure he said something along the lines to shake it off we need you now to prepare mentally for the playoff run.

Ruff should give Miller Wednesday off but knowing Ruff, Miller will play every minute of the next 15 games.

The Olympics thing is "needless"?? Really?

I could actually see Miller having off against Pittsburgh and coming back Wednesday.

I can see him being physically tired, but I don't see anything wrong mentally. If anything, he just gained some nice big game experience that should actually help in a few weeks.

Ruff seemed to lift his spirits and get a smile out of the guy. He must have said something like, "no one cares about a gold medal in buffalo. we'll win a cup this year and you'll go from celebrity to legend. Get ready to get it done."

One thing you can count on miller is his ability to bounce back from let downs.

I also think the team itself should be looking at the last two weeks as a reminder as to why they are a good team and how much they should do for miller for having them get them this far thusfar.

I'm a little worried about his ability to last through a cup run, but that'd be glorious to be on a cup run.

And that's exactly what's happened. Lalime is goal-tending tomorrow night in Pittsburgh.

                            It's Matthews, not Murphy.
