Is this a surprise? I think it is for Whitney.

I have no idea if I spelled any of those name correctly.

Both guys have no trade clauses.

Whitney didn't want to move twice in a year- so he wanted a multi year extension with any team that traded for him. LA came close, they could not seal the deal on contract terms though.

Kaberle will get dealt in the off season

Burke said he explored three avenues in regards to possibly trading one of the NHL's best offensive defencemen to places that Kaberle might have gone to, but it didn't work out. Buffalo was likely one of those roads Burke was trying to go down. The price was very high, and he wants to sign the Czech defenceman to an extension, anyway.
