I figured I would make a place for everyone to post their Free agency information that they have found on KFFL, RedZone or elsewhere. This is where to put the non-Bills FA stuff and even the Bills ones too.

Here's a list of some good sites to check out all day today and over the weekend....

What are the odds we bring in B+ or better caliber player during free agency?

20% 30% ?

I think that depends on who is grading. We haven't sniffed the postseason in a decade, yet many fans have champagne tastes. As far as one of the sexy names, that is getting showered with money by lunch time? Probably not. Players will improve our team by filling voids, or adding certain strengths to areas of weakness...I would guess about 90%.

That being said, if you are the disgruntled type, you wouldn't be happy with anybody, which would lower the chances to -3.5%.

I think there is talent on the current roster. You get professional, smart players to fill a few of the voids and do well in the draft, we might surprise people. We actually have a new coaching staff, which I like, I know you probably don't like Nix or Gailey, but we are a lot better off that we were this time last year.

Keeping my fingers crossed.

Word on the street is the Lions are the most aggressive team thus far. They have pursued several players, and are entertaining possible trade scenarios.

Another tidbit: Whitner could be a Brown or Redskin sometime within the next few days. Those are the top two teams I have been hearing over the past few hours. But I have been told nothing is imminent.

it's giving teams a chance to escape contracts without taking a cap hit. We shouldn't be surprised by this. This is a great way to purge salary, and dump unproductive vets. even more, there is the belief that any new CBA will have a lower cap limit. which means that you'll probably be best off building with a smaller salary in mind

no cap means no more min salary limit as well. I think the price for FAs will be much lower then anticipated after the initial flurry (there will be some teams that spend like drunken sailors to start, see Detroit, Chicago... ect)

probably will be more trades as well (because of the lack of a cap penalty)

Incognito back to the Rams a possibility??

The relationship between the St. Louis Rams and Richie Incognito did not end well. So it's surprising to hear that they might be ready for a second go-round.

But Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post Dispatch reports that Incognito was told by the Rams that they might have some interest in re-signing him (http://www.stltoday.com/stltoday/sports/stories.nsf/rams/story/3535F5361F622EA4862576DD0017D0DE?OpenDocument) when he visited Rams Park on Thursday "to pick up some things."

Kassim Osgood

After tweeting about how he is flying across the country to a team that will give him a legitimate starting opportunity, Drayton Florence asked him if he was coming to Buffalo.

He said, "not likely so far, lmao"

But there are some whispers that the Bills are actually that team. I don't know for sure, but its speculation out of California.

PURE SPECULATION on their part.

BillsWin
03-05-2010, 06:18 AM
I wouldn't expect any signings outside the Bills organization today. Purely my own speculation on what I have heard, but it looks like Buffalo is going to take care of their own first.

Contract extensions on restricted free agents seems to be the priority at OBD.

Hold up on the Osgood train. I was just told that the Bills are NOT the team he is flying out to meet. Which is in complete contradiction to what I was told 30-45 minutes ago.

Agreed.

The expected that unlimited spending would be the norm is unfounded ( sans Snyder and a couple other loons ). It's actually the opposite. They are setting their own cap and it's far lower than many would believe.

Teams will be uber prudent with the $$ plus it sends a clear message the reported owners lockout next year is indeed coming, unless the Players union wakes up and realizes that no one else will overpay their membership.

The owners ( outside of Ralph & Mike Brown) made a classic blunder 3 years back but they still hold the cards in this negotiation. This is just a side hobby for these owners, which have actual business to run outside of the NFL.

Brad Butler looks smarter by the minute.

Personally I like the Bills strategy here. We were never going to be players for the big name guys (Peppers, Dansby...) so let other teams over spend for them. The mid level guys are all going to be under bid on now that we've seen teams spending less those are guys we can now be in play for by being patient and playing our cards right. Some fnans aren't going to be happy with it but it's a smart strategy Imo.

Not really.. Its smart.

They dont want to pay for some of these overated free agents.

The Bills will end up busy in free agency, just not the way that some people are hoping.

RT and WR will get addressed in FA for sure.. So will the DL and maybe LB, maybe not with rock solid starters but at least depth.

I hear your frustration my man.. But this is the sad, but true reality.

TWO types of free agents are going to come to Buffalo, and thats IT

1- Those who the Bills will pay much more than anyone else (Dockery, Walker for IE)

2- Those who no other teams are interested in (See T.O. last year)

It sucks, but thats the way it is.. NObody is excited to come to Buffalo with this franchise in this state unless we give them several more thousands/millions reason to be excited or because nobody else wanted them.

I could be wrong, but I dont think we sign anyone today and if we do, I highly doubt its anybody of starting quality.

You should take a nap soon, maybe something happens in the late afternoon.

Id love to see us be aggressive as well man.. We are not a good football team.

Some people will just agree with anything the f'n Bills do!

Nah, we don't need any talent. We're gonna hit home runs on all of our draft picks because we have a track record of doing that! HA!

We need at least a NT, a 3-4 DE, an OLB, an extra MLB for depth, another corner wouldn't hurt, we need a WR or 2, a OT or 3, C and G depth...We need a 3rd RB, and possibly another QB.

In total, that is anywhere from 8-15 players depending on your opinion. We have how many draft picks? I know we'll be lucky if 3 are serious contributors within 2 seasons.

So I guess we're going to fill 15 holes with 3 draft picks.

Either that or taking a decade to rebuild, and by the time your done, the first guys you got are on their way outta town.

It doesn't need to take forever, and you'll have less time with a great team if it does take you forever. Miami went from 1-15 to 11-5.

Listen, I don't just want anybody. And I'd rather have nobody than scrubs like Kelley Washington.

Last year, Denver was changing schemes, they went out and signed a butt load of players. They faultered down the stretch, but they beat some good teams and I sure as hell would rather have my team play like them than like we do.

I just don't understand how we're not knocking on defensive linemen or linebacker's doors.

It's not that people agree with what they do. We're just not surprised by what they do.

Jim Schwartz went to Vanden Bosch's house. What's Nix doing? Sitting on his porch playing a f'n banjo?

Detroit overpayed for both players and it also helps that Vanden Bosch is a former pupil of Schwartz.

To sign a RFA you have to have a draft pick equal or better to your original draft position. The rule is in place to keep teams from trading down before signing a RFA to an offer sheet.

Seattle would have to surrender their own pick, not return Denver's pick to them.

Good point.

They may not want the 6th pick that badly, though. That slot comes with superstar money attached, and unless you feel you are getting superstar talent back they may not want to pay. They probably figure Marshall is better than any WR they would get at that pick, so they are willing to give it up.

Not sure how likely that is. They still need either a top lineman or a QB desperately, and they're more likely to get one of those at 6 than at 14. Paul Allen has enough money to pay the 6th pick of the draft and Marshall.

We'll have to see if they try to trade for him or just sign him to an offer sheet.

I'm surprised a little. I think he is their kind of player, but because of his age, mileage and cost (he wants a new deal). It would be a risky move.

Aaron Wilson is reporting it, though, and he is a very good source. He is probably getting his info on the Ravens side, since he has covered them for a long time and has good sources there.

Adam Schefter is also reporting it, and he points to KC and Bal as likely destinations. It could be the agent is putting NE's name in there to drive up the price. They get named in a lot of deals by agents because NE doesn't publicly address rumors very often.

Did anyone notice that the Steelers signed Jonathan Scott? Not too surprising considering the link with Kugler.

Oh man, I didn't even know his contract was up? Bills dropped the ball here! He was decent and at the very least, a good backup!

He was a restricted player and the Bills did not extend a tender, making him a FA.

The other players, besides Scott, the Bills non-tendered were Marcus Buggs, Justice Hairston, Gibran Hamdan, Richie Incognito and Joe Klopfenstein.

A bad ankle and being forced to play LT contributed to this. I think he is a backup RT - better than what we've had in the past - like Kirk Chambers! I personally would have preferred Meredith and Bell battle it out at RT with hopefully Meredith winning, have Bell as backup LT, have Scott play RT backup and draft a LT and a low round OT for the PS.
