"The Sabres, who will be without Drew Stafford "for a good period of time," have recalled forward Mark Mancari from Portland. The right winger will meet the team in New York for Sunday's game against the Rangers..." (http://blogs.buffalonews.com/sabres/2010/03/mancari-up-stafford-out-gaustad-back.html)

When we got Torres, I was thinking about what the lines would be in my head. I kept coming up short because I had forgotten about Stafford. And it's free Center Ice this week so I've seen every game since the break. That's how irrelevant he is.

Glad to get Gaustad back though.

Mancari? Oh yeah, another irrelevant.

Gerbe was injured earlier in the season...and check his stats - he is struggling. He's not going to make it in the NHL.

I'm not saying he will be anything special in the NHL, but his stats are not that bad...(9 goals, 20 assists for 29 points in 34 games). That's almost a point per game...hardly horrible.

almost a point a game at the AHL level = 20 points a year in the NHL.

Gerbe hasn't played in nearly enough NHL games for anybody to judge how good of a player he will be.

show me the list of AHLers who average less than a point a game who go on to even marginal careers in the NHL...the guy has had two years in the minors...I am not pinning any hopes on a fifth round, five foot five mediocre AHLer.

Are you calling Nathan Gerbe the Gerry MacNamara of hockey (excels in college, goes nowhere in pro)?

I like how we can all come to conclusions on guys in Portland who we never see play.

I'm calling him an unknown wannabe that faces a huge hurdle of ever skating in the NHL on a regular basis. If I am wrong so be it but I don't think the Sabres will ever be able to count on him for much. I'd trade him away in a second if I thought I could get something to help the team.

20 points a year is a first line center on the Sabres.

some of us said this two years ago when we drafted him and got destroyed for it....

I liked Mancari last night. Added some much needed size.

Torres looks good as well.

Half the team is moving like they dipped their skates in cement. They can't get a shot through to the net to save their lives..

and if they do get it through, it misses the net and bangs off the boards. I can't believe how many times they shot it wide in the last few games. Pominville is the worst offender, but certainly not the only one.

Much like last year when Mancari came up for a few games, I liked the way he played.

He might not have scored, but I knew he was on the ice doing something. That is more than I can say for Stafford lately.

If he plays like this, yes, absolutely.

I've liked him the last few games and Stafford has been invisible since December.

Mancari is doing things this team doesn't do...get free pucks in the corners, go to the net and fight for the puck like he was fighting for his life. If he can keep it up, then he deserves to stay in the lineup.

I have to admit...he's played well.
