Whats wrong with Gerbe?

Legit question.

What are the chances of a player making a meaningful contribution to an NHL team once they are 22-25 and haven't cracked an NHL roster on a permanent basis? I don't even know if they keep a stat like this. Maybe I am a little jaded because of the Sabres' history with projects but it almost feels as if a player has to make a meaningful contribution right away or he never pans out. I already get the sense that Gerbe and Persson and Mancari and Graniani are marginal NHL players, at best.

Look at the picks since 2005. How many of these guys will ever be more than marginal? I look at that list and I see Enroth, Webber, Ennis, Brennan and Kassian making the big club some day...and who knows if they will ever be good.
