It looks like OBD is trying to get Joey Porter in for a visit this week. It may or may not come to fruition, but there is interest on the Bills side. Interesting because I had thought Porter wasn't a fan of George Edwards. Maybe it was something else that went sour for him in Miami

He might have run his mouth off overmuch, but in fairness, he has generally 'walked the walk' to go with it.

He had nine sacks in limited action last year. He would be an upgrade and a guy who has extensive 3-4 experience and he is a leader and a fiery competitor. We have no fire on this defense and haven't had it for a long time.

T.O had a terrible year because of crucial drops and terrible QB play. He still managed to nearly have 900 receiving yards. Porter is a pass-rushing specialist in a 3-4. We are converting to a 3-4. Why not get a guy that gets to the QB that knows the new defense we are running? And he will have a big chip on his shoulder when we play the fins for a added bonus! What could be better then that! Pro Football Talk stated that Schefter also reported that the Bills have contacted Porter. It isn't on his Twitter (yet), but he probably said it on ESPN. At any rate, that is confirmation of Blame Canada's original post.

Pro Football Talk stated that Schefter also reported that the Bills have contacted Porter. It isn't on his Twitter (yet), but he probably said it on ESPN. At any rate, that is confirmation of Blame Canada's original post.

I think in this case though Porter is serious about being closer to Bakersfield. He is very close to his family there. His daughter has autism and she lives there. He is big in that community, opening a center for special needs children downtown (which his wife is heavily involved in).

He often would fly cross country from Miami on off days in the regular season to be with his family during the regular season. I know people say it is always the money, but Porter has already made a lot of money in the NFL.

Granted, he may not find a fit he likes. Most teams probably see him as a situational rusher at this point, not a full-time player. Maybe he would look elsewhere if he sees more opportunity to play.

I doubt it though. Location is going to be a big factor for the guy this time around, and Arizona is a great fit. They have a huge need for the guy and have coaches he is familiar with.

From what I gather, Porter's chances of signing in Buffalo if he even comes to visit is about 5%

If we are in rebuilding mode, why sign Porter? Shouldn't we be focusing on younger players who can grow with the team?

This is what I've been hoping for, but everyone seems to enjoy getting hung up and raged over a lack of free agent signings that likely wouldn't make us much better. We need to develop our own players.
