Please lets get him in here before thursday. I'd overpay for him just for the experience aspect.

I'd like to bring him in the fold.

With the defense we'll be running, I think he'd be a very good fit.

He'd bring relevance for sure. I'm all for it. Whatever you have to pay him. If money ain't the issue, Ralph, and there's no cap, then put your money where your mouth is and get this guy signed.

I agree, I'd be willing to guy 3yrs 16 million. There's no way the cards go that high.

I don't want this douche on my team. I don't care what he brings to the table, he's a scum bag.

I will say he is a big mouth, but what has he done to be classified as a douche & scum bag? Now Ray Lewis, that is what I call a scum bag.

I doubt he chooses the Bills over the Cards.

My thoughts exactly. He said he wants to play on the West coast too.

The Cards are not the team they were the last couple years. Leinart at QB, Bolden-gone, Dansby-gone, Rolle-gone. They could finish last in the NFC West.

Porter has played ROLB his entire career. If Schobel doesn't retire, he would only really fit at ROLB.

I'd think they would try to utilize Maybin in this switch, and he only really fits at ROLB.

Rolle has already been replaced by Rhodes, they have a dirty safety tandem (so do we) but they're still a much more attractive franchise for him I think, AZ is also HURTING for OLBs and will probably shell out good money.

i dont see the fit if they are serious about all our DE's now being olb's

unless they sign him then cut someone like kelsey and hope schobel retires

this is a move if we could pull it off that would be an outstanding addition to our transition.. with him and maybin off the edge and Poz and Mitchell playing stout in the middle it free's us up to concentrate on Dline and particularly NT

make this happen give us a ray of hope!!

....you have to understand that he's never played LOLB, which is where signing would place him. There is a difference in responsibility between ROLB (where he's been his whole career) and LOLB. Miami didn't even think he could be more than a situational pass rusher on the right side, I wouldn't bank on him holding up against the run on the strong side.

Its nice to have fantasies. Porter will never come to Buffalo. Arizona has better weather, better in state taxes (always a concern when signing a contract, after all its a business, right?), and a lot closer to his home in Bakersfield, CA. I expect him to be a Cardinal within 48 hours time.

The Bills should atleast try to sign him. He'd be a good fit for the 3-4.

I don't agree simply because I doubt Maybin will be ready to play ROLB day one, he has a lot of work to do strength and technique wise that Porter is way ahead of him on obviously. I think Porter will start (if signed) at ROLB with Schobel moving to LOLB which is usually the more run defense oriented player.

Kelsay will battle with Ellis for backup in camp and Maybin will be the primary backup at ROLB. Hoping for a draft pick in there to groom or even start day one if he is a high pick.

I'm not banking on Maybin playing lights out either, but when you're paying a guy that kind of money, they usually get a fair shake before being given up on. It'll be interesting to see how they use his athleticism. One of the things he will excel in is backside pursuit, even in his limited PT that's the one thing that stuck out, he's fast in space and can run people down.

The Porter/Schobel thing, yeah, Porter has been a career ROLB, which if Schobel doesn't retire is the only real fit for him. I wouldn't want to bank on a 32 year old 243 Lb career RE to suddenly hold up on the strong side, basically the same exact reason I don't think Porter to LOLB would be smart, it's a very different set of responsibilities on the strong side.

Lol I'm not sure why you re-phrased what I said back to me about LOLB though, it's been one of my biggest points in this.

This is why I'm hoping we try to lock up an LOLB prospect early in the draft, seeing how we have absolutely nobody to effectively play it on the roster.

Even if Buffalo were a better fit for Porter I believe I read that he wants to be on the west coast so that he can be closer to his daughter who has medical issues.

Porter was a little more coy, saying his agent had been trying to call him Thursday to tell him about other possible visits.

"But they (the Cardinals) can make it where I don't have to go visit them," Porter said.

As of mid-afternoon Thursday, the Cardinals had not made an offer to either player...

Porter saw his playing time diminish last year with Miami. A pass-rush specialist, he had nine sacks, 8.5 fewer than he did in 2008.

"I got a lot left," said Porter, 6 feet 3, 255 pounds. "All you have to do is turn on the tape, and I feel I don't have to sell myself. I don't feel like I fell off from a year ago; my playing time just decreased. I would love to be out there and give you 15, 16 sacks, but you can only do so much when you are on the sideline when the game is playing."

They continue to talk to the agents for several others, including lineackers Larry Foote and Joey Porter, who visited on Thursday...

Porter would like to be here, too, but he knows this likely will be his last NFL contract. He'll be 33 later this month, and it's doubtful the Cardinals, or any other team, will want to commit to a big money, multi-year deal.
