View Full Version : Look for Lalime against Wild

The Sabres had an optional practice today in HSBC Arena with about a dozen players on the ice. Ryan Miller was among those who took a well-deserved rest after Wednesday's 5-3 win over Dallas, Buffalo's third straight. Miller is probably getting more rest Friday night as it looks like Patrick Lalime will start in goal here against the Minnesota Wild. That would leave Michigan native Miller to play in his homecoming game in front of friends and family Saturday in Detroit.

I dont see the problem - Miller needs rest.

I see a problem. This is my second game attending in person this season and the second time I get to watch Miller sit on the bench. DAMNIT.

Lalime starting is the closest thing to a guaranteed loss as you can get.

You would think that when LaLime was in the net these squirrels would play harder and give a better effort except the bunch of vagina's clam up and MAYBE will score 2 goals when he plays. With out doing the research, i'll bet they haven't scored 3 goals too many times when he plays.

While I understand the strategy, in a home game this close to the Olympics, Miller should be in net.

That's kind of what I've been saying all along. Add to that how little he gets to play and get any kind of rhythm, and you get what you get.

Opponent (date) W/L Start Y/N Goals for Goals against
Atl (10/17/09) L Y 2 4
@NYI (10/31/09) L N 0 2(5)
@Ott (11/21/09) L Y 3 5
Chi (12/11/09) W Y 2 1
Pitt (12.19/09) L Y 1 1 (shootout)
@StL (12/27/09) W Y 5 3
Pitt (12/29/09) W N 4 0(3)
Col (01/09/10) L Y 3 3 (shootout)
@Ana (01/19/10) L Y 4 4(5)
@CBJ (02/06/10) L Y 0 4
@Pitt (03/02/10) L Y 2 3

Some I expected and some I didn't. 2-2-1 in games they scored 3 or more goals and in one of them he came in for Miller and shut out the Penguins. 1-3-1 in games with 2 goals or less for. I don't count the Islanders game as we were blown out in that one and he came in for Miller. As I see it, he is good enough for a backup.

What does closeness to the Olympics have to do with it?

I also don't know why Miller needs the rest so much right now. He had two days rest before Dallas and didn't look sharp at times. I guess I would rather play Miller against the Red Wings though if they are going to give him rest for one in a back to back.

That sucks that it doesn't recognize spaces when you put them in. You can't really read the stats I put in.

Because Miller has become a superstar because of the Olympics. How many previous non-fans got tickets to see him?

That is not Lindy Ruff's concern. Nor should it be.

And I doubt many non-fans did. Games have been sold out or nearly sold out all year.

It is my understanding that Lalime was going to get one of the back-to-back nights and because tomorrow night is in Detroit, Lindy chose to play Miller in front of his friends and family.

I agree wholeheartedly. Many fans do, though, go to home games to see Miller play. Rockstar, for example.

I'm just being *****y. Miller is and has been my favorite player and both games I've gone to this year I've had to watch Lalime. That being said, I also bought these tickets months ago and didn't even consider that Miller wouldn't be playing, so I'm over it...

...as long as they win.

Backstrom and Harding both aren't playing for Minnesota, so that should even the playing field a little bit. I hope.

Ha, ha...but Lalime is f'n brutal...this guy is stealing money from the Sabres. He does not deserve a roster spot in the NHL.

It does appear the team knows Lalime sucks so they put forth a half hearted effort when he is in there. Between Lalime sucking and the players not responding in front of him its best to just avoid games Lalime is playing and accept the loss.

Thanks to Lalime the beer sales were much higher at HSBC arena last night.

Obviously he's not Miller, but the last two seasons he hasn't even been Steve ****ing Shields. The Sabres were dominant up until Roy got lazy and Lalime forgot how to stop a simple shot. But what doomed it was Lalime's boneheaded play on the 2nd goal. That was downright horrid.

The worst part is that his major godawful performances come in the beginnings of games, which show he's not ready to play. last night and Anaheim come to mind immediately. Of course after 2 or 3 highly-questionable goals go in, THEN he's ready and he'll stop 20+ shots. AFTER he's ****ed the team. So it will look alright on the stat sheet, but we all know it was a terrible performance.

I hope we've seen his last performance on the ice. Ever.

There are a few more back to back nights so I'm sure we'll see him a few more times. I'm willing to bet he isn't brought back in the summer though.
