View Full Version : Sabres extend affilation agreement with Pirates

The Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League announced today that they have extended their affiliation agreement.

The Pirates are currently in the second year of their original deal with the Sabres. The new extension is a long term agreement that re-affirms the commitment between the two franchises.

Could be worse...


Can you imagine how it was for Anaheim before? They would call up a player and he would have to fly from Portland, Maine, all the way to Anaheim, California!

Thankfully the Sabres don't have to deal with such a logistic nightmare.

if they really wanted someone that didnt have to pass thru waivers though, what they would do is send them to the ECHL affiliate in cali and do it that way... but if it was an emergency yeah, sometimes it was a pain, but most of the AHL teams are east of the plains sooooo logistically it sucks.

most of the time syracuse has their parent call up players they always happen to be on west coast swings

plus what florida will do with their echl affiliate is the same thing let them sit there if its something extremely short notice

there's a chance the pirates may be moving to albany, which would be even better for the sabres than rochester imho... creates better regionalism, and its only 4hrs @ speed limit on the I90
