All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
There is work to be done and things to be learned. We are going to try to get the old look back - or something close to it. We also know there are bugs. A thread will be started to report bugs and then we can pass those onto the host.
Thank you for all the patience and support with this - hopefully this will greatly reduce the crashes and other site issues we have had lately.
Please use this thread to report any issues you come across

If size wasn't so desirable now, you would see dozens of undersized NTs running around, but there's really only one current one, Jay Ratliff, and that's because of the Cowboys type of one gap 3-4.
Things are usually the way they are for a good reason, kind of like why you don't see sub-200 lb QBs doing too well.
The offensive linemen were smaller in Wright's day, and there were frequent discussions about him being the weak link on the defense. Wright was serviceable, but in this day and age he'd fit better as a 34 DE or 43 DT.
I'm willing to give Williams a chance to prove he can play the position, though.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at 274 pounds, wasn't Wright a fairly effective Nose Tackle for the 3-4 style Buffalo ran throughout the Superbowl years?
Jeff Wright physical stats: Height: 6-2 Weight: 274
Kyle Williams physical stats: Height: 6-1 Weight: 306
Why isn't it possible that KW might do OK at the Nose Tackle position if they use him in a similar way that the early 90's team used Jeff Wright?
Here's a better question: if 306 lb guys can play NT, why do 3-4 teams shell out millions for NT's who are 325+?
Also, don't forget Williams recently bulked up to 306 from the low 290's, so it's probably his ceiling as far as effective weight.
Williams is a hardworking guy who has exceeded expectations as a 5th round draft pick, but he really isn't a good fit for this D and may end up being the odd man out. Of course, this organization is cheap and has done NOTHING in terms of staffing the new D, so don't be surprised to see Williams and/or Stroud playing NT. Just don't expect results.

No he wasn't. But he was a Polian favorite which is why he stayed, and was well paid. Not to say he wasn't a decent guy, but a true NT might have gotten the Bills some SB wins.
He also had Bruce Smith, Leon Seals and Phil Hanson, 3 of the best, with Hanson being underrated most of his career, on the outsides which helps his cause alot.

But we have Aaron Maybin, Aaron Schobel and Spencer Johnson. That's just as good as Seals, Hansen and Smith, right?
Anybody can play any position doesn't mean they're any good at it though.

"You're not going to find a more classier, down-to-Earth person away from the field than Marv Levy. He's a guy who's pretty much made me what I am today as far as a professional player and a person."
***Jim Kelly***
I say we should give the guy a chance hell do you really think we'll win anything this year
Better off getting value now, he's coming off two huge seasons, and a sub-par year could drop his value. He's one hell of a player but just very unlikely to fit in a 3-4. No I don't expect a pretty product early, so get as many picks as possible via trading back in the 1st or trading players.
