If the Bills land Edwards and Davis on the same day that would be HUGE. Our run D would go from horrible to solid in 1 day.

Stroud - Harvey - Edwards would be a nice DL.

He started for Baltimore over the last half of 2009, I'm sure he'd start in Buffalo's 3-4, would probably make Spencer JOhnson the first man off the bench.

DL Edwards a grinder

Seeing Baltimore free agent Dwan Edwards here at One Bills Drive today (Tuesday) is an encouraging sight.

What I like about Dwan Edwards game is he’s a grinder. In a 3-4 system the defensive ends are not going to rack up a lot of big time stats like DEs in a 4-3.

They’ve got to do a lot of the dirty work to allow the linebackers to make plays. They’ve got to hold the point of attack and help to stretch out run plays. Edwards is known as a blue collar player, and a darn good one.

Evidence of that is being ranked among the top 10 unrestricted free agents out there when the signing period began.

Edwards had two free agent visits within the first week of the signing period (Seattle, Denver), but he hasn’t signed yet, likely giving the Bills hope that they can close a deal. Time will tell.

I just dont think a 306 LB DT who's weakness is run defense fits as a 3-4 NT.

IMO, Harvey has the edge due to his size alone.

LB Davis at One Bills Drive

The Bills hosted free agent linebacker Andra Davis on Tuesday. He’s the second free agent visiting joining free agent DL Dwan Edwards.

Davis is one of the most experienced free agent linebackers available in the 3-4 defensive system. The eight-year veteran has 93 career starts to his credit. He played for Denver in 2009 as they shifted to a 3-4 defensive alignment.

His previous seven NFL seasons were spent in Cleveland where the 3-4 system was a mainstay under his former head coach Romeo Crennel for Davis’ last four seasons there.

The 31-year old has been a productive tackler, racking up at least 100 in a season five times in his career, including a personal best 199 with the Browns in 2005.

Davis (6’1”, 251) was entering the second-year of a two-year contract with the Broncos, but was unexpectedly released by Denver following a 90 tackle, 3.5 sack season on March 11.

The Bills can really have a nice mix of players on the DL for different situations.

I can see Edwards kicking inside to NT on passing downs with Sp. Johnson as the DE with Stroud.

On first and second you have Stroud and Edwards as the DEs and whoever the NT will be, Draft pick or Harvey.

One thing I can tell you with complete certainty is that Edwards' contract demands are not cheap.. Nix will definitely have to shell out some bucks to ink him.

Having said that, its a no brainer to me.. He's the perfect 3-4 DE for this defense and at 29 years old can be around for a long time.. Great investment for Buffalo.

Not that I dislike Harvey's measurables, and feel good story, but he is far from a proven commodity. He may be good, but he may still be pretty raw, and who really knows if he'll ever pan out. Buffalo still needs to look at DT possibilities, though with the free agent market being pretty thin now, that may have to wait until the draft.

Maybe they knew they had to do something since they extended the Season Ticket 1st Payment Deadline. Plus they saved money by getting rid of Peters, Walker, Owens, Reed, Denney.

Dont know anything yet.. But to my understanding Edwards met the media BEFORE he met certain people in the organization, which is kinda weird.

Josina Anderson, a reporter from Denver who has a good relationship with Davis' agent, seems to think Davis will end up here.

Interesting seeing Denver signed there line I can't see him going there so that leaves us and Seattle. We have a scheme that fits him better and a better football town. Seattle will spend more money on him (probably) and is a nicer city. Please overpay for this guy Buffalo.

My guess, and again this is PURELY a guess== is that if one or both get signed it would likely be tomorrow, or later tonight with a press conference for tomorrow.

Again. GUESS.. I know nothing considered "inside info" about either right now at all.. Its just a feeling I get from the times and schedule today.

Could get a "leak" later an an official announcment tomorrow.

And/or quite possibly, neither guy could sign, period.

We're waiting this one out. NOBODY even knew about Dwan Edwards until he entered the Building today.

I told you several times, Scott Berchtold and Buddy Nix are mad at the media and now do everything in their power to keep things secretive.

Baltimore is very much in play for Edwards.

Edwards is doing exactly what Jimmy Kennedy did (and as a business man he should do)

Baltimore will bring him back at a certain price.. Edwards is checking out his options, and if he gets blown away with an offer he'll sign.. If not, he'll go to Baltimore and continue on.

The Ravens would like him back, they just dont want to pay what presumably a team or two is willing to pay for him. That's always been the Ravens style.. Their DL go out and get much better money in the open market than if they re-sign.

Free-agent defensive end Dwan Edwards left his visit with the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday without a deal, which might lead to his return to the Ravens.
Edwards has made three visits during free agency and has yet to receive an offer.
"[Free agency] has been a little difficult. I'm not going to lie," Edwards said in his first comments since becoming a free agent at the beginning of this month. "I kind of new coming in some teams might have some issues with my neck."
Edwards had spinal fusion surgery after missing the 2008 season. He said he is completely healthy.
