BJ Raji would have been perfect last year

He almost fell to us. Ugh, he could have fit in as our 3-4 NT! I doubt GB would consider moving him.

Would you offer the 9th overall pick to GB for Raji? I think Raji has far more upside than Dan Williams or Price.

Re: BJ Raji would have been perfect last year

As someone who watched Raji throughout college I can confirm he is indeed the man.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

He went 9. We took Maybin at 11. I really wonder if we'd have taken him.

I'm more upset that we passed on the guy with these stats, even though our director of College Scouting wanted him bad....

          133 tackles, 86 solo, 4 sacks, 2 FF, 1 Safety, 10 PD and 4 INT

I'm also pissed that we didn't take this guy....

          50 tackles, 37 solo, 11 sacks, 1 FF and 2 PD

If only Marv Levy never came back to football and hired his Buddy Jauron........maybe Ngata would be a Buffalo Bill *sigh*

And we also had a shot at taking Chris Johnson instead of McKelvin. Could've taken Tom Brady. Could've taken Desean Jackson instead of James Hardy. Couldve taken Bryant McKinnie instead of Mike Williams. Couldve taken Haloti Ngata over Donte Whitner. We JUST missed Roethlisberger. JUST missed Patrick Willis. OK. Life moves on.

              Can't stand these hindsight threads.

Every NFL team passed on Brady, except NE. All of them had a chance to draft him, and didn't.

Jackson wasn't "high character", which is why Buffalo passed, if I remember correctly.

The "just misses" you can't really complain about.

Ngata over Whitner is the one that irritates me the most. I still remember saying "who" and then "wtf" when I heard the Bills pick that year.

Raji only saw 144 snaps at NT last season, and struggled when playing. He did better at end.

Nope. No NT is worth a number 9 overall pick. Sorry

We didn't take Jackson because our WRs were a bunch of midgets at the time and adding a 5'10 170 receiver would've been more of the same..

This site would've imploded if we drafted him.
