Just a general question...IF there is a lockout next season and there is no football in 2011...What would be the draft order for the 2012 NFL draft? Would it still be the same as this year's draft order? How does it work?

I supposed the NHL lock out would be the first point of reference and what happened with their draft.

Despite a lockout there will be a draft in 2011. The lockout would not stop it.

Probably the same order as it would be in 2011. Not sure 100% though.

How do you determine the ORDER of the draft if they don't play in 2011?

How do you determine the ORDER of the draft if they don't play in 2011?

As I already said I believe is the same as the 2011 order. The order is always determined by how teams finished the last year of play. So it would make sense that if there is no play in 2011, they would revert back to the 2010 finishing order to determine the drafting order.

That's really not what you said before but at least you clarified things a bit now.

Yes but I posted two different thoughts, not just one.

That could work out very well for us...

Besides not having football for a whole year and having a crap year that gets us a high pick, it would be sweet if we did have a high pick for our team. Two years in a row with the second having a rookie salary cap.

The landscape of all the teams will change dramatically though in 2012 if their is a lockout. Possibly 14 draft picks per team and a whole boat load of free agents. It would def. be a golden opportunity to turn this franchise around. Hopefully there is a salary cap though.

there will be football don't worry. both sides have too much to lose by not having a season for that to happen

Might be a shortened season, but they will play in 2011.

i wonder if you'll see teams just tank after week 8 under this loophole. "if you aren't making a serious run for a championoship, you better make a serious run for the bottom."

because assumedly the thing the new CBO will cap is the rookie salaries, so 2011 and 2012 will have a new, low level for paying rookies.

If this is true, i've never been more excited for a 2-14 season in my life.
