The BZ's favorite game is back!!! Our annual pick a day game, because last years didnt get completed (my fault) and we have lots of new members, Ill go over the rules quickly.

I post the team who is picking, and each poster who wants to posts who they think the team SHOULD pick. Each morning (I know Im late), Ill tally the votes and whoever has the majority is the pick. We go through the entire first round and our first round mock is made out of it.

Everybody ready?

Here we go....

And with the ninth pick in the 2010 NFL Draft Buffalo Bills selects....

1. St. Louis-QB Sam Bradford-Oklahoma
2. Detroit-DT Ndamukong Suh-Nebraska
3. Tampa Bay-DT Gerald McCoy-Oklahoma
4. Washington-OT Russell Okung-Oklahoma State
5. Kansas City-OT Bryan Bulaga-Iowa
6. Seattle-RB CJ Spiller-Clemson
7. Cleveland-S Eric Berry-Tennessee
8. Oakland-OT Trent Williams-Oklahoma
9. Buffalo-ON THE CLOCK

Well, considering Ron Burgundy got his Ozark Mountain camouflaged thong twisted, knotted and stuck up his ass crack yesterday about the semantics of the rules, I'm going to tell you what the Bills SHOULD do with this pick...find a dance partner and trade the hell out to get an extra pick or two in later rounds.

-Clausen IS NOT a franchise savior
-The top 3 OT's are off of the board...might as well get one in the second.
-The top 2 NT's are off the board...might as well get one in the third or later.
-Spiller and Bradford are gone.
-Zero QB's in this year's draft have 'impact' written on them.

That being said, and absent of the ability to trade under this scenario, WR becomes our biggest need/priority for the first round. Dez Bryant would be a good, but somewhat risky pick, so the Bills SHOULD take the lower risk/similar reward choice and snag...

Demaryius Thomas, WR Georgia Tech.

Not a home-run pick, but it's solid, fills a major need, and every other guy I considered has too many red flags. I'd rather go the safe route, because this team cannot afford to screw up. If the draft goes like this one has, I'd love to trade down.

it really depends on what tackle is there, and to be honest i really do not believe in this draft class there is a LT worth a top 10 pick. second if the bill do want to draft tebow in the second or in the late first LT isnt even a big priority because tebow is left handed which makes RT the pressing need. that could mean that bulaga is the pick because many believe he is a NFL RT. i do not believe dan williams will be picked at 9, it is far to high for him and DT is not as big a need as many think. the coaching staff is happy to let kyle williams have a year to see if he can be an every down DT and as ALL the coaching staff has said in our 3-4 our DT will not line up over the center which plays more to a gap busting DT than a space eating DT like williams. if tebow is the QB they want than look for bulaga to be the pick because he can play left or right tackle (i firmly believe he will be serviceable but not a all pro) if not than i look for us to try to trade down with a team looking for a QB maybe 2 or 3 spots and draft cj spiller. it is a luxury pick yes but i firmly believe that Nix doesnt care what any fan thinks and will draft whoever he likes. if we get an extra second out of trading down look for us to get a tackle and QB and come out of the first 2 rounds with a playmaking RB, a tackle and a QB that after a year of sitting behind the junk we have at the position right now will be no better than he would have been just starting this season LOL.

I like Dan Williams, but I've been reading mixed reviews lately, and I've always preferred Terrence Cody at DT to Williams.

Dez Bryant is the only top 5 player on the board left (he should have went to Cleveland or Seattle, but then the board made some silly picks for those two teams)... and if he's there i think the bills will have a hard time passing on him. it's almost impossible to find talant like this this late. he really is that good.

Because the most important position on any football team is the QB. Last time I checked all the Bills QB's blow. Sometimes you just have to take a chance and hope things pan out.

If Clausen is the pick and he becomes the franchise QB the Bills have been starving for than drafting him was a good move. If the Bills pass on him and he becomes a star somewhere else than the Bills look like idiots again. If the Bills draft him and he turns out to be a bust then at least they tried. Won't be the first time the Bills drafted a bust.

McClain is a smart player, a difference maker. We have how many of those now on defense? McClain > Davis or Poz. Passing on McClain just because you have a getting long in the tooth, just released Davis on your roster is how we get to draft top 15 every year.

Clausen is an arrogant not ready for prime time kid that throws to his right 98% of the time. I don't want him. You do? That's fine. McCoy > Clausen

And Bryant is a guy that scored single digits on the wonderlic, talks like an imbecile, and forgot his "favorite" spikes for the combine. Maybe he is a huge talent but these I/me/my guys turn me off. You want him? Fine.

Yea Ive read the reports and heard the rumors about Tate and Thomas jumping him. Its common knowledge by now. Any team that does it though is taking far too much of a risk imo.

You know as well as I do how talented the kid is, nobody is on his level in this draft talent wise alone.

He has a shot to be good, great Im not sold on but good for sure.

He's not a lock though.

In my opinion he got way too comfortable having three exceptional targets in the passing game. I dont think he likes to get hit (that's not to say he can't take a hit) and sometimes his emotions get the best of him and he will make a stupid decision because of it. He definitely has a massive ego and it rubs a lot of people the wrong way.

His physical skills are all there, he has the experience in a pro style offense, and knows the terminology. He needs to work on his accuracy still, and just develop more reading abilities.

The tools are there, my biggest issues are if he can put it all together.

So I tried counting them...but it was a little harder than I thought. Some people were talking multiple scenarios and didn't really end up picking anyone (jimbohastle, I'm talking to you), plus some people want to switch their pick, some people just talked about trading down, etc. I think Clausen is ahead of Williams by 1-2 votes and Williams is ahead of Bryant by about 2 votes.

Hopefully it works out this way on draft day. :)

Shut up ;) I'd rather take Tebow at 9. Clausen has BUST BUST BUST written all over him.

so with the 9th pick in 2010 NFl draft the Buffalo bills select Jimmy clausen, Quarterback, Notre dame

kinda has a good ring to it

That's three of the picks thus far in this mock draft that you're running that would sink a franchise, by ignoring the most dire need of the team to go for a player who doesn't fit the team needs, or who shouldn't be drafted that high (huge reach for Clausen).

-Seattle (needs a LT, QB, WR), Cleveland (Needs a RT, QB, WR) and Buffalo would have shot themselves in the foot to go with those picks.. that Bryant didn't go to either Seattle or Cleveland is a joke, and that neither team took a tackle is just as big a joke.

That's why Ive maintained I dont see any way Clausen falls to us. Seattle skipping out on a tackle and QB to take Spiller was quite funny.

1/2 the people that picked Berry to Cleveland only did so because they wanted Clausen to be on the board for the Bills pick. In real life I don't think the Bills take Clausen even if he was there.

DAN WILLIAMS PLEASE.

lets shore up our D, and stop the run - williams is the guy - he's been credited as being the best run stuffing DT in the draft by multiple sources. if we can get our d off the field with out letting a team march all the way to our endzone and surrendering a field goal, we can really see what we've got in Brohm and Edwards.

then we take a tackle or Demaryius Thomas later in the first because lynch's trade will get us back into the first.

Guys you're more than a little late, we are on picks 16 and 17 now...

I would've gone with Dan Williams in that mock. Yeah, too late, I know.

Dan Williams will compliment our awesome pass D quite nicely - by making it harder for teams to run on us, they'll have to take a chance on not getting picked off by Byrd.

just goes to show how far the intelligence level has sunk on this board.
