Ive heard a lot about Griffen moving up recently, so far so that I put him at 10 in my last mock draft which surprised some people.

This could be a smoke screen after all, but after running 4.59 at 268 pounds he could be an ideal 3-4 OLB on the strong side, size wise at least.

If he can play the strong side that would be a nice fit since it's probably one of our bigger holes. I would hope that this would only be a situation where we miss out on one of the top 3 OT's and trade down. If he's the pick at 9 though, I wouldn't complain.

Can this team just make the obvious pick {Ngata, Orakapo, Clausen} instead of trying to show everyone how smart they think they are ? {Whitner, Maybin, Griffen}

He's too big to be drafted by the Bills. They tend to like 6'0 200 pound linebackers. He doesn't fit that mold.

He has experience standing up on the strong side, but doesn't play smart sometimes, and should have been more productive than he was. Not sure how I feel about him as a top 10 pick.

That was pre Nix... I have some faith in Nix :db:

I doubt he's our pick at #9

Throw out anything from the past this is a new GM.

If you want a nice blend of size and speed, why not just take Carlos Dunlap or Bruce Campbell? I've watched Griffen numerous times and he is a very good player, but his athletic ability outweighs his football production at this point and I consider him to be a fringe 1st round talent. I'd honestly rather have Brandon Graham over Dunlap, Griffen & JPP because Graham is a footballer.

I prefer Spiller, Dez or a Top 4 LT at 9.

I wouldn't be upset if they traded down and took Dan Williams. But at 9 I want the above.

Agreed... draft a difference maker because this team has none Spiller at 9.

I would hate it. Simply because I think you can find plenty of rush OLBs in this draft in later rounds that have similar abilities and rawness as Griffin.

I've had enough surprises the last 10 years to last a while, thank you very much.

I just don't see it happening at #9. I wouldn't be surprised if they're just doing their homework in case he drops to #41.

He might be a Bills pick but it won't be at #9 IMO.

Or a trade up into late 1st rd to get him

I doubt he goes that high, but he is a guy that is intriguing to me.

Nix has repeatedly put a premium on guys who have excelled at every level consistently. I will be quite surprised if our pick at 9 is someone who "climbed the boards".

what makes Clausen the obvious pick? just because he's ranked higher on Mel Kiper's draft board doesn't mean he's the obvious pick.

Just say  to Clausen at #9

IDK maybe because he plays the most important position on the team, we haven't had a qb in over a decade, he has a lot of good qualities, and you can't win without a good qb.
So I think if they are lucky enough to have one fall into their lap they might want to take that chance that he will be a good one.
As for Kiper what he says is meaningless to me, those guys are for other resident draft guys around here.

and have another 1st round pick spending time on the sidelines. screw that. this team sucks so bad that it isn't too hard to find somebody in the draft to be a Day 1 starter. in fact, this team sucks so bad, they can probably find somebody to be a Day 1 starter in Round 2 as well.

Nix and Gailey should have blinders on regarding not having a QB for the last decade....that's a moot point to them, and their only concern is who's on the roster right now, and who might be brought in to upgrade.

If you believe Buddy Nix's statements about avoiding drafting one year wonders, this won't be the guy, not in the first round, at least.

I don't see him taking a guy that lost his starting job 2 of 3 years in college.
