June 6, 2003) — Former Rochester American Steve Ludzik has been named coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League.

The 39-year-old coach joins the Rampage from the Mississauga IceDogs of the Ontario Hockey League. Ludzik also coached Muskegon (Colonial League), Detroit (IHL) and Tampa Bay (NHL).

Ahhh, the Colonial League. Semi-pro, non-contact hockey.
When I was in London, Ontario, I actually went to see a London Wildcats game...a different hockey crowd than the OHL London Knights, although they had the same owners.

Really, really baaaaaaaaad hockey, if I must say so.
The only saving grace at the time for the team is that they were allowed to serve beer during the games, because they were a professional team, unlike at the Knights games, where Ontario laws at the time dictated you couldn't serve beer at amateur sporting events. The law has since been changed :D

Ludzik was one of those grinder types that just never got a fair shake. He was with the Hawks for a while, and he was fun to watch.
