Houston Texans defensive back Patrick Dennis, 24, was released from custody Sunday when he posted $1,500 bond after he was charged with assaulting a woman.
Dennis, who played in three games on special teams last season, was seen choking Morna Hawley, 33, Saturday night while he held her against a car in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 7000 block of Almeda Road, said police spokesman Martin DeLeon said.
Witnesses told police that Dennis then escorted the woman to an apartment while he held her in a headlock. When questioned by police, Hawley said there wasn't a problem. But officers noticed minor scratches on her chest, and they detained Dennis, DeLeon said.
