Defensive tackles have a lot on their plates

The 2010 draft class looks pretty good at defensive tackle. Nebraska's Ndamukong Suh and Oklahoma's Gerald McCoy head the list. They could be taken second and third overall. Both look like safe picks as strong NFL starters.

Tennessee's Dan Williams is a space-eater who will go in the first 15 picks and is an outside consideration for the Buffalo Bills at No. 9. Penn State's Jared Odrick and UCLA's Brian Price, both 4-3 defensive tackles, are candidates for late in the first round.

North Carolina's Cam Thomas and Central Florida's Torell Troup are run-plugging nose tackles who could go in the second round. The Buffalo Bills could take a nose tackle at some point in the draft.

Williams gradually improved during his career at Tennessee. He showed up at 360, dropped down to 340, then played last season at 320. He was 327 at the combine. He has an ideal frame, with a thick trunk, to play nose tackle in a 3-4 scheme.

He will become the fourth Vols defensive tackle to be picked in the first round in the last eight years, joining Albert Haynesworth, John Henderson and Justin Harrell.
