    Ronnie Brown going to Detroit??

Fan easier, fan faster and fan better with Bleacher Report. Keep up with the latest storylines, expert analysis, highlights and scores for all your favorite sports.

According to multiple media sources the Detroit Lions are actively talking to Miami about a trade for running back Ronnie Brown.
I can confirm that news tonight.

I just talked to a good source of mine, and according to them Detroit is talking very seriously about trying to put together a deal that would land them the Dolphins starting running back.

I was told Detroit was looking into Bills running back Marshawn Lynch, but ultimalty wasn't willing to give up their second-round draft, which is Buffalo's current asking price, to get him.

While that is rumored to be the same asking price for Brown, the Lions feel more comfortable with the former Auburn star. One person lobbying for him is Lions offensive coordinator Scott Linehan. Linehan was the coordinator for Miami in 2005 when Brown was drafted.

Why would you give up a 2nd round pick for an injury prone back, but not for Lynch? I don't get this logic. Brown has had more success, yes, but he's also missed a ton of time due to very serious injuries.

Exactly! Not to mention that Lynch has taken a lot less pounding due to the suspension and the fact that Jackson got a ton of carries last year and the Bills don't run the ball a lot.

because Lynch is 1 strike away from a possible very long suspension and didnt exactly light it up last year

Lynch and a swap of 1sts with Detroit.... then we have our pick of Suh, McKoy and Okung.

That would be a cool trade for us IMO

I'd pull the trigger on that in a heartbeat.

Detroit doesn't want to have to sign another top 5 pick talent so they want out for financial reasons IMO.

I think a move to #2 has an outside chance. If they get Lynch they get an affordable RB who still can be a force if he chooses to be, and they still get a top 10 pick to pick a player they covet.

The fins are trading away top picks made in the past for new blood even if they don't get back what they used on Brown or Ginn. This is why I can understand the bills trading Lunch away . Start fresh

Re: Ronnie Brown going to Detroit??

First of all, Brown just got a DUI. He's a first-time offender under the personal conduct policy. So while he's one step behind Lynch, it's not all peaches and cream on Brown's side of the fence.

Brown is also a restricted free agent, and would become a UFA next year (almost certainly) if a new CBA was approved between now and then.

Whereas Lynch is under contract relatively cheaply for 2010 ($885,000) and 2011 ($1.14 million). He should be a free agent after that, as his last year is a voidable year.

Lynch wasn't very good this past year, but I still believe that he's a quality starter if you put him in that role.

I agree, question is, does Lynch want to be here?

i think the Lions should hold off getting any RB. they can get a decent one in the draft without using a high pick.

I am NOT a fan of getting rid of Lynch. But I would take that trade in a heartbeat. It would be like trading Lynch for Suh.
