    LT Trade-up Scenario

The draft goes through the first 4 picks... Bradford, the two DTs, and Okung are off the board... there are whispers of KC wanting to trade down...

    5. Kansas City: The Chiefs are trying, and I mean really trying, to move down. My sources tell me they’ll be willing to go down as far as 15 for the right deal because they feel they can find a player in that range. They want to move badly and might be able to if they can convince a team to move up and get ahead of Cleveland to acquire Clausen. The reality for the Chiefs and the rest of the NFL is that Cleveland won’t pick Clausen. More on the Browns later.
...the pick value between #5 and #9 is 350 points, which equates to a mid-to-late 2nd rounder...

Would you give up a 2nd rounder next year to guarantee Bulaga is a Bill, if the Chiefs were willing? Is it better to gamble and go BPA or to possibly reach for a need position at #9?

I think Bulaga is the best fit for us, but I do not see him getting to #9. I like Dan Williams a lot, and would probably be satisfied to sit still, take him, and roll the dice on a OT in the 2nd, but... I think Bulaga is the best fit. What do you think?

PS - Check out this snipet... I'm sure some people will be thrilled to consider this possibility:

    11. I’m told Buffalo will go offensive tackle with its first pick and has interest in Florida quarterback Tim Tebow. The Bills might have to move to the bottom of the first to be in position to get him.

I dont know...I like the idea of Dan Williams at 9, if the three OT`s are gone. Heck, -Im even warming up to Claussen, Anthony Davis, and Berry for the pick.

But Im not sure it`s worth trading up unless the guy is an elite talent. Are Bulaga, Trent Williams (or even Okung) elite?

Again, you do not draft a top 10 ish LT to convert him to RT for a LH QB.

        Never happen.

NO... but a swap of 1sts, and maybe Lynch or Whitner would work for me.

I'd trade them a player, but I would rather stock pile picks in 2011 to move up for a franchise arm in 2011 including trading our 1st rd pick in 2012 to do so

I think Okung is very close to elite, and Bulaga isn't far behind. I think both will be top 10 LTs in the league within 5 years.... and both will still have room for growth. You take care of that position and it gives you all kinds of flexibility on offense.

I do love DWilliams though, who you know you can get... it would be a tough call.

I do not want to trade up. Since the Bills need to build through the draft they need as many picks as possible. I have no problem with Dan Williams, CJ Spiller or Kindle if the top 3 are gone.

Whatever we do I hope it doesn't involve moving up or drafting Tebow.

I'm not trading up for Bulaga, if I'm Nix. If you're going to move up that far, it better be for Okung, Suh or McCoy.

I like ddaryl's idea of trading Lynch to Seattle and swapping first-rounders better than giving up any picks.

There are holes or big question marks on every position on this team except for DB and RB right now. I expect at least three opening day starters from this draft, whether they're ready or not to play. The Bills are not moving up, especially to a Top 5 pick.

I am definitely warming up to the idea of Jimmy Clausen as our future QB..........

Here's a question... how good was Joe Thomas in his Junior year? Comparable to Bulaga? Better? Worse?

Great question. Here's info. on that from Wikipedia:

Thomas considered declaring for the 2006 NFL Draft, where he was projected among the top 15 picks (and projected as the second offensive lineman behind Virginia prospect D'Brickashaw Ferguson). The Badgers were invited to the Capital One Bowl against Auburn, where they prevailed 24-10. Unfortunately, Thomas tore his ACL playing defensive end because of injuries to other players at the position. The Badgers finished that season 10-3 with a #15 national ranking. Soon after the game, Thomas announced that he would be returning to Wisconsin for his final year. His senior season in 2006 began with high expectations. He was named a preseason All-American, and was on the watch lists for several postseason awards, including the Outland Trophy and the Lombardi Award.
That is close to where Bulaga is now pre-injury. Had he not gotten hurt, he probably could have worked out well enough to go top 10. It's hard to compare drafts, but I think they are pretty close. I do know that Thomas was regarded higher as a senior than just about anyone, and I can't see Bulaga having quite as high of a ceiling as Thomas.
