Dan Williams at 9...Really???

After watching him here against the best in the Nation in Alabama this doesn't exactly inspire images of the #9 pick in the draft. This team needs elite players, players who are difference makers. Dan Williams, Bryan Bulaga aren't elite players, aren't difference makers. Okung, Trent Williams, Spiller, Clausen, Bryant, those are the guys this team needs out of this draft.

I think Williams is a good player but I agree with your view that he is a reach at #9. This guy is a 1st rounder but barely. The ONLY reason IMO mocks have him going to Buffalo at 9 is we have such a gaping hole at NT. IMO reaching for players at positions of need is our not so secret formula for being bad and staying bad.

Bottom line: I don't have a problem of us drafting Williams. I have a big problem with us drafting him at 9. If we do there is no doubt in my mind he's doomed here- Donte Whitner II. You draft someone that high you expect an impact player and Williams really isn't, good not great. Could Miami take him at 12 because they also have a big hole at NT? Sure but so what? If you want to get good draft grades you can't think like that, take the player close to where you have him on your board, not a half round higher.

Gee thanks. Sorry for sharing.... but if we are drafting 9th and have to settle for the third or fourth best player at a position I'd consider that a fail. Either move up to get the best guys at DT or take one of the best guys at a different position.
