Maybe it’s because the 14-year NHL veteran - with nearly 70 postseason games under his belt - knows exactly what it takes to bounce back and win.

Or maybe it’s because he’s done it before.

In fact, not only has Rivet been in the exact same situation earlier in his career, but while playing for the Montreal Canadiens - and finding himself one game away from losing in the 2004 Eastern Conference Quarterfinals - Rivet was up against an all too familiar opponent.

“That was against Boston of all teams," Rivet recalled. "We got down [3-1] in the series and what we said was to not look any farther than the game we have ahead of us."

After dropping the first two games to the Bruins in Montreal, Rivet and the Canadiens headed to Beantown. In Game 3, Alexei Kovalev scored a pair of goals to help the Habs earn their first win of the playoffs. The victory was short-lived, however, as the following game, the Bruins claimed a 4-3 overtime win to put them up in a 3-1 series lead.

Sound familiar?

Facing elimination, the Canadiens found a way to claim three consecutive wins to beat Boston in seven games, marking the first time in franchise history the team had staged such a comeback.

I recall some other history there cap'n Craig...

"Opponents will not take liberties with the team on my watch."
-- Craig Rivet, October, 2008
