Good players too. You may not have liked Spiller because he wasn't a need position, or Troup because Cody was there or he was originally given a third round grade, but they aren't bad football players.

In fact, Spiller is a top five talent in my opinion.

Troup could be pretty good and we were in need of a 3-4 NT.

From what I've been reading over the past half hour, he seems to be one of the few 2-gappers that doesn't have motivational/weight problems.
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

No, I love Spiller. But not only are they good players, but high character guys - I'm not discounting their talent at all.

If you read what happened to Torrell Troup prior to becoming our pick, he's the NT equivalent of Michael Oher. Seriously.

Slim u are correct I have seen him play quite a bit surprised he went in the 2nd but will be a very good anchor for the 3-4 with the BILLS....
Thought he was a early 3rd so not that much of a reach..

Best thing about him is he busts his ASS everyday...

                          We have a winner here.

Top ten, you shoot for the moon because you don't expect to be in this position often. That means regardless of need/position.

Round 2-3, you shoot for year 1 to 2 starters.

                          Round 4-7, need/potential.

The other thing that is noticeable to me, is that these guys have solid records of performance. Seems to me that there's definite method here. There might even be an element of 'conservatism' involved, in that these guys are players Nix has pegged as solid starters for years to come.
While spiller is obviously somewhat different as a 'talent', the general premise would be to be picking guys who have produced solidly throughout their college careers. It's almost as though Nix is applying a version of Parcells theory about drafting QBs, to his approach to the draft in general.
