PRO DAY RESULTS: As usual, the scouts came out in droves to check out Virginia Tech Pro Day, with representatives from 25 teams in attendance in Blacksburg, Va., on March 18. And they weren't disappointed, as a couple of big prospects had solid performances. The biggest name of the group was offensive lineman Ed Wang (6-4 7/8, 318), who is looking to become the NFL's first Chinese player. Wang, who also worked out at the NFL Scouting Combine, could find his way into the first round of the draft. He ran the 40 in 5.09 and 5.12, had a 28-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot, 7-inch broad jump, a 4.72-second short shuttle, a 7.94-second three-cone drill and his arms measured in at 33 7/8 inches. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

I think you are wrong...Tech season ticket holder...best running game in college football, pass blocking does need some work though, but according to the reports, nothing that can't be coached, and they all say he is smart, dedicated, and easily coached.

I think you are going to see a mauler in the run game, and then we count on the coaches to get him up to speed in the pass game.

he's a former Tight End so he's pretty athletic, he's 6'5" and 314lbs he could put on weight, he's a bit of a project though.

See that's why I don't like this pick...we have enough projects on the O-line. If our staff has faith he'll work out then that's awesome, but if he's just a project then I'm not a fan.

That's just what I was about to ask. The theme from this FO is consistent. Run and stop the run. I think he's a project, but in the long run, sounds like he might be good for the team...

Wang has all the natural tools and his size is fine at 315-320 range. His biggest problem by far is his inconsistency. When his technique is there he looks great. He just gets away from it way too much. If his head is on straight he's coachable and starting by 2011. Otherwise he's off the roster by 2012.

as a tech alum and a guy who has watched every game the guy has played.. i agree completely with what tedmock said.

he is extremely smart and coachable, so i am banking that he will be coached up vs. flaming out. he is a big boy though that will get bigger.

These are the two keys. This is what every player we have taken in this draft is about. Good producer, smart and coachable. Head of college scouting for Bills just said, looked at as a LT.

I actually didn't think he looked that good in some of those clips. He definitely needs to get alot stronger and he needs to stop ending up on the ground so much! He made lots of glaring mistakes too. I did like him running into the open field/2nd level to block for the rb also. At this pt, I think he'll benefit from a strong weightlifting regimen. If he wants to be a great run blocker, he's got to be stout and be able to push bigger and faster DEs than in college backward.

In truth, he may just be backup material until we get a top 2nd rd OT alongside a QB next year!
