03/25/2010 - PRO DAY RESULTS: As usual, the scouts came out in droves to check out Virginia Tech Pro Day, with representatives from 25 teams in attendance in Blacksburg, Va., on March 18. And they weren't disappointed, as a couple of big prospects had solid performances. The biggest name of the group was offensive lineman Ed Wang (6-4 7/8, 318), who is looking to become the NFL's first Chinese player. Wang, who also worked out at the NFL Scouting Combine, could find his way into the first round of the draft. He ran the 40 in 5.09 and 5.12, had a 28-inch vertical jump, an 8-foot, 7-inch broad jump, a 4.72-second short shuttle, a 7.94-second three-cone drill and his arms measured in at 33 7/8 inches. - Gil Brandt, NFL.com

He's a project and needs to work hard before he'll be ready

both parents represented China in the Olympics in 1984 so he has some pedigree.

Ed Wang, OT, Virginia Tech
While Wang has the size you want in an offensive tackle, the lack of athleticism he showed on Monday was eye opening. Wang didn’t move well laterally in pass protection and Michigan’s Brandon Graham ruled him in one-on-one drills. He also had a difficult time staying low and getting under defenders. Wang has to improve his footwork if he expects to

Yes but he has work to do. He isn't going to start from day 1

I trust Brandt talent eval skills but I have to disagree with him calling Wang a 1st Rounder.

I'm curious about the LBer Batten that we drafted. From the little video i could find on him, he looks like a good hitter and aggressive player.

Meredith and Bell will be miles ahead of him unfortunately.

Meredith and Bell will be miles ahead of him unfortunately.Meredith and Bell both have upside. The experience they both gained last year should really help in their development. I wouldn't be at all surprised if both showed significant improvement this season.

With Gailey putting our O together I forsee a cohesiveness building across the OL that we have not seen for quite some time...

If he could find his way into the first round would mean that he was worth a first rounder. Its just a roundabout way of indirectly saying that.

They all need to work hard, but I see Wang as much less a "project" that Denetrius Bell.
